A celebration of the natural year, Matt Baker's first ever book will take the reader on a journey through the seasons: January to December, Spring to Winter on his Hertfordshire farm with his family. Over the past year our relationship with nature has become vital, and Matt's observations of the natural world make for healing reading. The surrounding British wildlife plays a major role in life on the farm and Matt's thoughts and reflections can help every one of us. The book will also follow Matt in his bid to save his parent's organic sheep farm in the rolling Durham Hills, covered in the 4-part More4 television series Our Farm on the Dales, airing in spring this year. Much-loved on Blue Peter, BBC One's Countryfile and The One Show, Matt Baker writes about his family, his farming life and the power and beauty of the natural world.

A wonderful read. You get to appreciate the dedication and hard work Matt Brown puts into everything he does. He has a real love for the countryside and the farm animals . You learn a lot about every day life on a farm and the terrific effort he and his family put into improving the farm for his parents when an accident meant she was unable to continue her work as a shepherdess in the same way,

It was such an enjoyable read and I got swept along experiencing life for Matt through his writing. The joy of life is shown every step of the way even when the challenge was tough going. He gave his best shot and that was more than good enough for me.

What a fabulous read from a man with dyslexia. Matt is so good at keeping you interested enough that I didn't want to put the book down. He's had such a full and exciting life and he's so in-love with the farm and the animal's not to mention his family. Fabulous, I can't wait for his next book.

Having followed Matt Baker on Country File and recently his own production, Our Farm in the Dales, this book was a must read and I was hooked from page one. Having spent my formative years in County Durham, this has been a nostalgic visit. I admit to a certain amount of envy for the warm close ties Matt has with his family as mine are too far spread. My forebears were farmers and Matt's story evoked such memories. His descriptions are vivid and easy to picture, and his animals are so well sketched I felt I knew them myself. Explanations in separate chapters on, for example, sheep dogs, hedge-laying and dry-stone walling were informative and so interesting. And with all Matt's achievements and sheer 'get-up-and-go' North Country Grit, yet remaining modest, only make him even more of a hero not only to his family, but to the reader of his first book and autobiography. I hope he will be encouraged to write some more.
