I realised I wanted to be on the side of consumers early in my career as a result of five years working in the City of London. So began a long association with Which?, where for a time I was head of the money research group and, over many more years, author of numerous books about personal finance. As a freelance financial researcher, journalist and author, and latterly in my work as Senior Lecturer in Economics and Personal Finance at The Open University, my aim is to champion and empower consumers. As the financial services industry becomes increasingly complex and the State less supportive, it can feel like a battlefield out there and I hope my books give you the winning edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vital reading for any spender or saver
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 19, 2008
This excellent book takes the lid off the UK finance industry and demystifies all kinds of products we take for granted. Coupled with the Motley Fool investment guide and Martin Lewis' own website, I make all my own financial decisions with confidence and boost my savings by not having to pay commissions to greedy reps of the large financial organisations. This should also be essential reading for all school leavers before they fall prey to commission and fees based products for the rest of their lives!

After years of paying institutions for mediocre advise and returns on investments, I feel a lot more confident running my own show. With the backing of Which, this book contains good practical advice you know you can trust.

It's fine, however, most of the info is available on the internet but it will come in handy for reference.
