Purchase options and add-ons
Six years ago, the woman Carter Blake loved disappeared and told him not to ever look for her. For six long years, he kept that promise. She was a woman on the run—a woman with a secret many would kill for. It was better that she stay hidden.
But now someone else is looking for her. Trenton Gage is a hitman with a talent for finding people—dead or alive. And his next job is to track down the woman Carter Blake once loved, a woman on the run. With both men hunting the same person, the question is: Who will find her first?
A riveting new thriller from Mason Cross, ideal for readers of David Baldacci, Linwood Barclay, and Mark Billingham.

Review
"If you like page-whirring thrillers centered on an enigmatic, action-oriented central character, then you definitely want to give the Carter Blake books a try. Cross delivers a ripsnorter of a thriller. Plenty of suspense, violent action, tension, and twists blend into a propulsive narrative. A one-sitting read that keeps the revs high, while delivering some nice shading in terms of character and setting, Don’t Look for Me will leave readers wanting more Carter Blake." ― Mystery Scene Magazine

- Reviewed in the United States on February 3, 2018Being a fan of thrillers including Jack Reacher, The Nowhere Man, The Gray Man, etc., Mason Cross's Carter Blake series has become must reading for me. Blake is a former highly trained back ops agent now working as a man hunter who finds people who don't want to be found. He is intuitive, thoughtful, compassionate and quite capable of violence and mayhem where required. Cross quickly allows the reader to feel as if he/she "knows" his signature character.
In "Don't Look For Me", Blake gets a call for assistance from a woman, former reporter, Sarah Blackwell, worried that something has happened to her reclusive neighbors, Dominic and Carol Freel, who suddenly disappeared. As Blake investigates, he is stunned to discover that the missing Rebecca is actually Carol Langford, his former love who herself disappeared from his life six years earlier leaving him a terse note saying "Don't look For Me". Why did Carol leave him so coldly? Why is she now masquerading as someone else married yet obviously hiding? Why has she disappeared again and who are the men searching for her and her husband? Cross ties all these questions into a high-octane thriller that will keep readers glued for hours at a time.
As bodies begin to pile up, and characters reveal that they are not necessarily who they seem to be, the mystery deepens and the cat and mouse game between Blake and a hired assassin, Trenton Gage, ratchets up the suspense and the tension. Sarah, who seemed a burden for Blake in the beginning, soon proves her value to the pursuit as things head for a shocking climax in the tunnels below Las Vegas. The denouement contains a surprise that some may see coming. My only quibble was the drifting away of Sarah at the end after being so totally involved in Blake's investigation. This series is highly recommended for those thriller/suspense readers who enjoy well fleshed "loner" type characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2018This is an enjoyable read. Lots of action keeps the reader from putting down the book. This is an author I will continue to read. I save 5-stars for the best of the best but ... I really liked this author.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 23, 2018While overall this was a good read it lacked the suspense or excitement of the previous Carter Blake novels. It needs a new villain comparable to Winterlong.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2017Not as gripping as books 1 and 3 but better than book 2. We never really get into Carter Blake's head in this instalment. Instead the most interesting character is ex-reporter, Sarah. However, at the end, she just drifts out of the picture.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 28, 2018I just enjoy his style of writing and his story telling.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vast and thrilling
The space in the US to have abandoned ghost towns, car trips of 400 miles and anonymity of run down motels always amazes me. I want to see these places! Mr Cross has brought them to me, alive and transient, in the story and I was there! It seems there are some awful, cold people there too. I liked the idea of love- Carter's lost dreams, Sarah and her care for friendship, Gage and his child, and the avarice of men; another form of love?
Great story, be a great film. I'd go just for the scenery! Thanks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slower Than The First Three, But Still A Great Book
Carter Blake Number 4....
Don't Look for Me.
For Carter Blake enjoying life and resting and leading a quite life after the hectic time being chased in Book 3. His question to himself where was his next job going to come from, how would he continue is work, life changes quickly.
It was a simple instruction. And for six long years Carter Blake kept his word and didn't search for the woman he once loved. But now someone else is looking for her.
He'll come for you.
Trenton Gage is a hitman with a talent for finding people - dead or alive. His next job is to track down a woman who's on the run, who is harbouring a secret many will kill for.
Both men are hunting the same person. The question is, who will find her first?
Blake gets a call for assistance from a woman, former reporter, Sarah Blackwell, worried that something has happened to her reclusive neighbours, Dominic and Carol Freel, who suddenly disappeared, after she had made friends with her. As Blake investigates, he is stunned to discover that the missing Rebecca is actually Carol Langford, his former love who herself disappeared from his life six years earlier leaving him a note saying "Don't look For Me".
A slightly slower pace for the readers in this book, well paced, but a chase film around Arizona and Nevada, two strong female characters, and a great adversary in Trenton Cage for Carter Blake.
Strong characters, great twists and shocks, a step down from the first three books with a little more characters, but slightly less action.
But we do get to know Carter Blake better with each book.
If you like a great loner action hero, like I do, you will love these books...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, first class story
Another quite excellent book in the Carter Blake series from Mason Cross.
I started reading this series as I enjoy Jack Reacher novels, how pleased I am to have found a new American hero, out to do good and in general get rid of the bad guys.
Not being one to tell the story in the review all I can say is read it and enjoy.
I am off to find no.5.

3.0 out of 5 stars The first three were really good, a former agent from the now disbanded (and ...
This is the 4th in a series. The first three were really good, a former agent from the now disbanded (and unofficial) Winterlong group of agents, the first three books dealt with the consequences of being forced out into the open to defend himself/former colleagues against new brooms at the top determined to remove all traces.
The trouble with this back story is that the author has painted himself into a corner, future books can only continue to develop the theme of a retired agent who cannot be/does not want to be found. Whilst the book itself was okay, the story kind of felt like 'what can i get the central character to do now, given all the restrictions previously placed on him'? It's difficult to see where these stories can go next?
it was an entertaining read but i'm not sure i would rush to read any future books in the series.
