- Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2016This book started out a bit slow for the first 50 pages or so, and then really started to pick up. We got back story on the main characters, and then new ones enter into the picture, that’s when things start to heat up. I don’t want to mention who the new characters are, since I think it will take the surprise out of the story.
Once we do meet the new characters, I wasn’t surprised how these characters interacted with Hanna and her father, since it is a trope that has been done before. But E.C. Hibbs put a nice spin on some parts of the story, especially the mythology of the various vampires and demons. It would interesting to see if this is mythology that can be found in other sources, or if Hibbs invented it.
It is being labeled as an adult book for 15+, but in the United States, we would consider this one a Young Adult series. Hibbs does a good job exploring the characters feelings and motivations. As well as having the characters grow throughout the book. If you are looking for a vampire story with a bit more substance to it, you may want to check this one out.
