Anne E. Terpstra (she/her) writes heartfelt, sex-positive fiction that is grounded in realism and centers LGBTQ+ characters. Beyond Any Experience is her debut novel.

Anne graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia and has degrees in journalism and technical theater. She has worked as a copy editor and proofreader, and she is a member of the Chicago Writers Association. In addition to being an author, Anne is a potter and photographer. In all of her pursuits, she enjoys exploring the unexpected angle or unappreciated detail.

Anne and her wife live in Chicago with their son. When she isn’t writing, throwing pots, or taking photos, she procrastinates by baking and gardening.

The secondary characters were equally powerful … Ellie’s brother and Abuela … Olivia’s best friend all contributed to the connection of this newly formed family. A very good read, but you must be in a particular mindset to follow the characters. The author kindly gave a caveat at the beginning of the novel alerting the reader to some difficult challenges throughout the story. I heartily and enthusiastically and unequivocally recommend this and any other works by Anne E. Terpstra. Thank you Peace

This is an emotional and beautiful story that has easily become one of my top 3 favorites. It’s about a widow who loses her wife in a horrible accident. She’s left to raise their son, who has autism, alone. She gets her second chance at love but can she let go of her guilt and grief to take it? It’s a story about love, loss, grief, and the extreme pain that encompasses all of it. There were times that I wasn’t sure I could continue reading because my eyes were so blurry with tears. This had me full on bawling as it reached inside me and pulled my heart out. It broke me open and left me raw. If you need a good cry or just want to read an absolutely excellent book, read this. I can’t say enough great things about it.
