Will his deception keep them apart …
🗺 The Marquess Makes His Move 🗺✒️ Diana Quincy🌟🌟🌟🌟Will his deceit harm their burgeoning romance …After the previous book, I was even more curious about Alex.I love how the author shares her roots with history, how every step is a challenge when you do not conform to a mold.I can understand Brandon needs to show off to the ton, after being rejected, subjected to their spite, he feels he must do better than them. But first he has to reinstitute his land’s right, being swindled is another slight to his name and honor. One he won’t let pass.So here he is, masquerading as a footman to enter the household of the man behind the loss of his land.Rose like many women of her era has to hide she is the talent behind the family business, so she complies and bends to her husband’s demands, even if she does not agree with him. Without her spouse’s name, she is repeatedly told, she would not be able to hold on her family’s legacy for being a woman. But as a new footman shows her more respect and kindness than the man she pledged her life to, her life takes an expected turn when secrets and betrayals are revealed.I confess I was surprised, it is not often an heroine is married at the opening of a romance book, and as my assumptions turned right, the real threat they face is themselves. Why I expected the second shoes to drop at any moment, you know that something which would come up but you still have to determine when. From the beginning they are drawn to one another but their present situations, differences of status and his deceit make them being together an impossible feat except for one option. An entertaining and lovely romance of two people who must choose between heart and reason when their trust in themselves and the other is damaged.4 stars𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 onscreen lovemaking scenesI have been granted an advance copy by the publisher, here is my true and unbiased opinion.

I especially enjoy romances with an interesting setup & Diana Quincy gives us an entertaining historical romance, in The Marquess Makes His Move.

Alex is an English Marquess of half-Arab ethnicity who was recently cheated out of a large section of his land when a map was commissioned. He infiltrates the home of the map purveyor (cartographer & surveyor) as a footman to find proof that he was cheated.

Rose English is the wife of the map maker and secretly the artist for the maps. When her neglectful husband assigns Alex, the new footman, to her, she at first is reluctant. But because of her fond memories of her dear Lebanese grandfather, Rose is attracted to Alex's dark looks & willingness to embrace his late mother's Arab culture. They form an affinity. But what about her husband?

Alex comes to Rose's rescue time & again, especially when scandal threatens. No spoilers. But its nice having an aristocrat on your side who is willing to throw his title around.

I enjoyed this romance. Both Rose & Alex we're agreeable & empathetic characters. The sexy times were a bit on the mild side but there was plenty of emotional connection between the two leads to carry my interest. (my only negative comment is that I don't like when both parties harbor secrets that impact the story and only the hero is made to suffer until he sufficiently apologizes. She should have done some serious groveling)

4.5 stars.

This is definitely more on the tender side. I like that there are multiple situations that the main characters come across, and we get to see them working through them. I also liked the family aspect on Alex's side, and we get to see that reconnection with them. It's a sweet love story that I enjoyed.

The Marquess Makes His Move
Book 3 in the Clandestine Affairs Series
Rating: 3 stars
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC given through NetGalley for review. All opinions are my own.

****This review will contain spoilers****

The Marquess Makes His Move was a good read. It starts of as a quest for Alex to uncover the truth of why he was cheated out of having access to water on his land when it has been in his family for years. It is then that the decides to do some investigating while pretending to be a footman. He gets the job with the Flemings who run a very successful business in creating and printing maps. It is them who created the map where he denied the access to the water. Rose Fleming is the one who is creating them, but because she is a woman it is her husband who takes the credit and collects the monies. Rose is unaware of her husband's dealings and she's also very unaware of his secret family.
Why the 3 stars? Like I said it's a good story, but for the beginning part of the book it felt weird rooting for these two to be attracted to each other because she's married. She's been married for some time. Though we learn that they have not been intimate with each other for years. I almost DNFed because I hate cheating and love triangles in romance...but I continued reading and it is then revealed that she was never married at all. Her husband turned out to be a bigamist. (I kind of wish this would of been mentioned in the synopsis.)
Once this is revealed the story kept a good pace in which we see Rose, helped by Alex, fight for all that she deserves and actual is owner of. Even when she's still being duped by Alex, because he is no footman, but a Marquess. Poor Rose ! I felt bad for her but I enjoyed seeing her fight for what was rightfully hers in regards to Roger and in regards to Alex, she made him grovel for her forgiveness.
I did enjoy those scenes where Owen is teaching Alex in to be a proper footman.

Set during the Regency Era, Quincy’s historical romance features a half Arab hero: Alexander Worthington, a Marquess.
Rose Fleming is a map maker.
Alex goes under cover as a footman in Rose’s household.
There’s an instant attraction that complicates Alex’s goal for revenge.

I love historical romances! I’ve read several books by this author and liked them, even loved some, and this book was no exception. The premise was intriguing - marquess goes undercover as a footman to try to prove he was cheated, only to find himself falling for the mistress of the house. The heroine, Rose, was compelling - beautiful, smart, talented, and loyal, if a bit naive. The hero, Alex, was also compelling - handsome and aristocratic, albeit cold initially. Their chemistry felt a bit forced at the first, but grew more natural as the book went on. The storyline was fairly dark. Overall, a good book, and I liked it.

I have read many romance novels and never read anything remotely like this book. It’s so refreshingly unique and creative! I love that the hero becomes a footman to get revenge but stays because the lady of the house is so beguiling. I very much enjoyed reading a historical romance novel with a Palestinian hero, something I have never seen before! The chemistry between the characters and the plot was wonderful and a bit angsty but sexy as well. Love this book, and Quincy is a new favorite author of mine.

A very enjoyable book and the best in the series. Gripping from the very start. It could have done with a bit more steam. My only problem is that after their main argument who would refuse a Marquess realistically ? Nobody. Otherwise a very entertaining book that I found hard to put down.
