After walking away from her career as a business banker to pursue writing full-time, Erica Lucke Dean moved from the hustle and bustle of the big city to a small tourist town in the North Georgia Mountains where she lived in a 90-year-old haunted farmhouse.

Tired of being woken up in the middle of the night by a pesky poltergeist, the author of contemporary young adult, romantic comedy, and paranormal romance moved into a cute little cabin in the woods, where she lives with her husband, her dogs, and the occasional bear. Much like the characters in her books, Ms. Dean is a magnet for disaster, and has been known to trip on air while walking across flat surfaces.

How she’s managed to survive this long is one of life’s great mysteries.

A stunning conclusion to the series

A stunning conclusion to the series
“Shattered Souls” is a stunning conclusion to the Flames of Time series, and it did not disappoint. If you could relive the past and alter it, what changes would you make? I loved the concept of the story where Ava goes back in time and has to re-enact what happened in “Splintered Souls” to make sure that the same events don’t transpire. The story was so entertaining to read, especially if you have read this series in order. While some may think that the plot is repetitious, it honestly isn’t as it goes back to the first book. We see how Ava acts differently to the exact situations knowing how the outcome would be.Moreover, Ava is lovely in the role as she tries to figure out how to prevent Maddox and Laith from hurting each other. I loved her interaction with Sam in the story and felt like the two of them got closer. The author also adds some exciting plots like Laith being stuck with pirates or Sam trying to time-travel with Ava. Also, some of the scenes are also intriguing, like when Ava goes to see Betty. It was entertaining seeing quite a few characters from the first book, like Paige and Abercrombie, who I missed in the second book. The author paces the story very nicely, which leads to a stunning yet bittersweet climax. The author wrote the entire series so creatively that it made me want to go back and re-read specific passages. I never noticed the time fly by when I was reading this book.Overall, “Flames of Time” is an excellent guilty-pleasure series that’s perfect for picking up if you love YA fantasy with time travel elements, and “Shattered Souls” concludes it wonderfully.

Such an amazing conclusion to this trilogy! ‘Shattered Souls’ will shatter your heart and then put it back together again, in the best way.

I loved being back in Ava’s world, following as her story re-set to the beginning, to when readers first met her. She retains the memories of what happened before she walked through flames to re-set her timeline but no other characters do, not even her time-traveling soul mates. Having knowledge of the future could be an advantage, but it only gets her so far, since she makes different choices and has a different goal than before. Watching these differences play out is one of the things I enjoyed most about this trilogy’s conclusion.

My absolute favorite thing about this book is that it is partially narrated by Laith. Author Erica Lucke Dean chose perfectly which scenes to share Laith’s thoughts and feelings with readers.

The careful planning and attention to detail that went into crafting the story of these soul mates is clear for readers to see. I love how creative Dean got with the curse, the timelines, and the characters, throughout the entire series, and how beautifully everything comes together in its conclusion. At long last, the details of the curse are all laid out and explained to Ava, and it is worth the wait.

I enjoyed ‘Shattered Souls’ so much that I read it through once, then re-read certain key scenes and character interactions. After re-reading ‘Splintered Souls’ and ‘Shattered Souls’ to refresh my memory before diving into the trilogy’s conclusion, I am happy to say that everything checks out; the time-travel math adds up perfectly, and Ava got the perfect ending she deserved after all she’s been through.

As usual, Erica Lucke Dean’s writing flows wonderfully. In the days since I finished this book, I’ve missed both her writing style and these characters. I can’t believe the Flames of Time series is over and I will definitely be re-reading this trilogy in the future.

I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else’s.

Shattered Souls is the conclusion to the Flames of Time series and it had me on pins and needles all the way to the end!

As you read the first two books you realize that one twin is more darkness, while the other is all light. Even knowing what the dark twin has done, the author had me aching for him. I felt like if he just had his own true love...

You really don't know how there could possibly be a happily ever after until almost the end of the book. This trio was cursed and it didn't look like there was a way around it. I was worried because I need that HEA. And then the we get the sweetest end.

I was so very happy with how this all turned out. My only complaint is I wanted a bit more at the end. I wish there was an epilogue that gave us a few years later, but that's the sentimental part of me wanting that.

Flames of Time is a unique, time traveling love story that I enjoyed very much!

I read all three books in a weekend. I enjoyed the concept of love through time and conflict wins in the end.

I had so much hope for Ava Flynn. I needed her to figure out who her soul mate was and make a life with him. Was it Maddox? Was it Laith? In book two we learned who was the “better” brother, but would that truly be who she ends up with? Book three answers all my questions and let me very happy.

Ava was truly fearless. She knew that the curse had to be broken and was willing to do whatever needed to break it. She jumps time, she works with a witch, and she puts her own life on the line just to find her happy ending. I really enjoyed working through the curse with her and figuring out what would need to be done to break it. I liked the mystery of the different times and the uncertainty of what would be changed as she went through time reliving her life.

The brothers and Ava became people I was invested in. I wanted to be sure Josh, Ava's brother, was taken care of also. They had all lost so much throughout the years that I needed them to be okay and to find their happiness. Erica Lucke Dean wrote the perfect final book in this series. I will miss these characters but they will always be some of my favorites.

The Flames of Time series must be read in order. I actually went back and read books one and two before starting book three because there was a gap of time between publishing. That is my only complaint, Erica Lucke Dean kept me waiting for the wonderful final book in this series. The good news for anyone who has not read the series yet is that all three books are now available, and you can read them without waiting for the next one to be released. I highly recommend purchasing all three and devouring them just like I did.

Lots of poetic license, and a very young 19 year old, but... I read and finished all three books. That's good for me as I usually lose interest once the slow burn has been realised.
So I can recommend this trilogy because it keeps you reading to the end.
