One of Amazon's Best Romances of July

Named a Most Anticipated Summer Read by Buzzfeed, Glamour, Town & Country, BookRiot, and more!

A ghostwriter and a struggling actor help each other on the page and in the bedroom in this steamy romantic comedy from the
New York Times bestselling author of The Ex Talk.

Chandler Cohen has never felt more like the ghost in "ghostwriter" until she attends a signing for a book she wrote—and the author doesn’t even recognize her. The evening turns more promising when she meets a charming man at the bar and immediately connects with him. But when all their sexual tension culminates in a spectacularly awkward hookup, she decides this is one night better off forgotten.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Her next project is ghostwriting a memoir for Finn Walsh, a C-list actor best known for playing a lovable nerd on a cult classic werewolf show who now makes a living appearing at fan conventions across the country. Chandler knows him better from their one-night stand of hilarious mishaps.

Chandler’s determined to keep their partnership as professional as possible, but when she admits to Finn their night together wasn’t as mind-blowing as he thought it was, he’s distraught. He intrigues her enough that they strike a deal: when they’re not working on his book, Chandler will school Finn in the art of satisfaction. As they grow closer both in and out of the bedroom, they must figure out which is more important, business or pleasure—or if there's a way for them to have both.

Business or Pleasure is such an apt title for this book.

Business or Pleasure is such an apt title for this book.
The book starts on an awkward one-night stand which Chandler wants to forget, but then her worst memory becomes a living nightmare.I love books about books and have never read a book about a main character being a ghostwriter, so I very curious to read Business or Pleasure.I found the story enjoyable and appreciated the little bookshelves at each chapter heading. It took me a while to get past the awkwardness of the first few chapters and wondered where the story was going, but once Chandler took on her new ghostwriting job for an actor who is known for his role in a previous popular series, the story pulled me in. I loved the Lord of the Rings references and that Finn is such a huge fan. He is just a cinnamon roll, a bit insecure but loveable. What to expect:- OCD rep- creepy dolls- Lord of the Rings references- one bed- apple sauce and socks- ghostwriter- actor- book about books- he falls first- nerdy romance- celebrity romance- one night stand- neurodivergent mc*Contains mature content not suitable for younger readers.

I loved it! I think the idea was fantastic, I like how author takes some cliches and turn them around, this makes her stories so special and interesting. Loved to read about underrepresented things, I felt like so many important topics were touched. I loved characters especially mmc, he’s so cute and reliable. By the end I was a little bit tired from fmc, probably because we get only hers POV, so hers back and forth felt quite too much. I also felt some moments were quite slow, but I still enjoyed it a lot. It was light and funny, but also very sexy, with some drama and import representation of mental health issues and cultural differences.

A warm, wonderful romantic story, with authentic characters and real life issues discussed compassionately.
I fell for Chandler and Finn's meet cute immediately, as it was quirky and with a surprising twist.
In fact, the entire book takes the reader down a path of each main character's arc, which involves hidden issues from their pasts, and ultimately shapes their relationship.
This book is so much more than a rom-com...it is filled with witty dialogue, laughter, and deep exploration of what it means to feel flawed, vulnerable, then loved for who you are. Glorious!

I read the Ex Talk, and found some similar themes in Business or Pleasure. This one jumps to TV, and the con circuit, instead of radio. It also addresses more mental health, though not in a super profound way. There’s plenty of sex-positive connection as the leading couple learn how to satisfy each other, while writing his memoir(!) Yeah, not your typical plot exactly.

I really enjoyed this book. These two had a great meet cute and beginning to their story. Very entertaining. I liked how they got to know each other while working together and exploring their attraction to one another under the guise of 'lessons'. There was a lot of laughs throughout this story, which I loved. These were very lovable characters.

This was such an original premise! The hero isn’t good in the bedroom? That scene was hilariously done and the tutor sessions certainly added heat that was missing in their initial interaction. Chandler and Finn were both great characters. They had interesting back stories, conflicts, and personalities. I loved them both. It’s been awhile since I’ve connected with two characters so easily and enjoyed watching them find their way to each other. I think because of how the book started imperfectly, it just helped it all feel so real.

I’ll admit to that fantasy of attracting a famous actor and while Finn is famous it’s for a part he played in his early 20’s in a paranormal show- think werewolves and vampires. Finn’s dissatisfaction with his career, personal imperfections, and even actors from that show just made him more interesting. Chandler’s job as his ghostwriter gave her insights into all of those things and his hopes and dreams. It made it so easy to like the two of them and root for their hea. Something I did from the get-go.

Overall, this was certainly a really sweet, enjoyable book. I like that it’s a romance where the characters communicate, and seem to deal with each other on a more mature level. And I have to admit, as a millennial, it’s certainly spoke to me.

You kind of knew where some of the points of the story was going, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. I do feel like the last part of the book dragged a little bit.

Overall of fun, and definitely spicy Reid. Would look for more books by this author.

I absolutely adored Business or Pleasure from Rachel Lynn Solomon!

Chandler Cohen has made a career for herself ghostwriting celebrity memoirs. When the latest memoir is released and the wellness influencer author didn't even recognize her, Chandler drowns her sorrows at the bookstore bar where she strikes up a conversation with the handsome guy next to her. In something truly out of character for her, Chandler goes home with the stranger and it is .... anti-climatic in all the important ways. The next day she meets a potential new client who turns out to be Finnegan Walsh, the beloved star of a teen werewolf series from the early aughts and also her one-night stand. Finn needs a ghostwriter willing to join him on his tour of comic cons while they draft the book, and Chandler needs to force herself out of a rut. Early on, Chandler lets slip that their rendezvous was less than ideal for her which, of course, leads to an offer of sex lessons.

Chandler and Finn just absolutely stole my heart right from the start. The sparks began flying during their meet cute and I had butterflies all the way to the final page. Finn is such an endearing nerd and the way he is head over heels for Chandler was just adorable. Chandler was so relatable - having put herself in a box of security and responsibility while her dreams of writing fiction take a back seat. The sex lessons chapters are *so hot* with Finn such an eager student, but I loved all the moments in between as Finn and Chandler build a friendship and get to know each other. The third act conflict is fairly predictable but resolved quickly so these two get their well-earned HEA!

As with her other books, Solomon writes about mental health and Judaism really beautifully. Finn has OCD and Chandler has general anxiety disorder. We see both of these struggles on the page and the characters loving each other through them in a really tender and authentic way. Finn and Chandler are also Jewish and there's a really lovely chapter where they attend services together than had me grinning from ear to ear.

Content warnings: On page anxiety attack; on page instance of a coworker making fun of Finn for his OCD

Great characters and loved the mental health representation. Just felt a little corny in some aspects at best. It was nice to see a more leading lady romance. However, I felt like the epiphany was rushed near the end. Just felt like the internal conflict could have been left out or revisited.

I read Business or Pleasure in less than 24 hours so thought I’d give it a review ✨

I’ve read Rachel’s two other adult books (The Ex Talk and Weather Girl), and two of her YA books (Today, Tonight, Tomorrow and We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This) and really enjoyed all of them. Business or Pleasure has to be my favourite so far!

Chandler, a ghostwriter, meets a guy at a bar, and has a terrible (for her) one night stand. Determined to erase it from her memory, she’s delighted the next morning when she receives the biggest opportunity of her career: ghostwriting a book for Finn Walsh, ‘everyone’s favourite nerd’ and former star of The Nocturnals (it’s about werewolves, I pictured Teen Wolf). We all know where this is going - Finn is the one night stand guy!

Chandler honestly needs the money, and yes, she’s definitely attracted to Finn, so she takes the job, travelling from convention to convention with him. Finn is stunned to learn she didn’t enjoy their night together, and so she agrees to give him sex lessons. But is their connection just physical, or something more?

Unsurprisingly I love fiction set in the publishing world, and it was so interesting to read from a ghostwriter’s perspective. I loved the snippets of scripts and past interviews - that was such a fun detail to include. I also loved Teen Wolf years ago, and enjoyed reading about the fan culture and conventions from an actor’s perspective. And the romance is so CUTE! Finn is an all-round lovely guy. The dialogue, the characters, and yes, the spicy scenes were great.

Business or Pleasure also deals with some real issues really well, including OCD and generalised anxiety disorder.

Definitely one of the best romances I’ve read this year! Can’t wait for Rachel’s next book.

Thank you netgalley for the ARC (which blew my mind when I saw the email!)
One of my most anticipated reads of this year and IT DELIVERED. I don't know why or how but I really like her writing and even when things piss me off I still enjoy it? This one had I think literally one single moment where I was like OH COME ON but I get it, I understand and I moved on from it quickly. The most important and also the best things about this books are: communication and a healthy relationship, dare I say the healthiest I've seen in a while (!), mental health representation, topics of their religion, her abortion, the s*x talk and s*x scenes and how this book will do more for you s*x ed than any class at school ever did and naturally FINNEGAN WALSH. MY MAN. The loveliest, most wonderful, understanding, supportive man! Perfect. Amazing. All the adjectives! I also loved how real the actors in it felt, like Rachel knows a C or a B list actor/actress and has inside scoop because it was just that realistic. The main character is Pisces and has constantly cold feet so she wears socks all the time so I just have to end the review saying: she is just like me FR!

I happily read the book. I’m always a sucker for movie star/ordinary person romances, and it was fun that she initially turned him down - but my head bugged out regarding the sex. I must be too old. Sex positivity is a good thing, but it feels rather heavy handed here. I must not take it too seriously …..
