Okay, wow! I loved this - it's been a while since I've sat & devoured a book in less than a day, but this encompasses everything I love about YA thrillers: fast-paced, great characters, original storyline, solid twists - all set within the realm of a YouTube reality show with a true crime angle.When I opened my Kindle & saw there were 144 chapters, I nearly died - but, don't despair! The chapters are really short & most leave off on a cliffhanger, you'll fly through the pages trying to figure out what's coming next! I loved Jess as our protagonist here, she was confident & driven, yet also vulnerable - I wasn't expecting the story to delve into grief as much as it did, but the author did such a great job with it. It added so much depth to Jess & her father, as well as the other "left behinds", & made her journey to catch the Magpie Man that more harrowing. Sometimes the story moved a little bit too quickly, but at the same time all the pieces game together great in the end.I had such a great time with this & would highly recommend it to those looking for a fun, fast-paced thriller! I think this would translate amazing on screen, too (fingers crossed!) Thank you so much to Vincent Ralph, NetGalley & Sourcebooks Fire for providing an ARC in exchange for a honest review! Shipping was nice and quick, book arrived safely and most importantly THE BOOK WAS GOOOOD take it w a grain of salt if u will, I don’t read much. But I love the phycological parts of this book so much the trauma and frustration that lead to irrational and dangerous mistakes makes this book a exciting read! I do think having a character like Jamie made it easy because who really follows a stranger around like a dog like that lol idk I did like him near the end tho felt like he had more metal depth, the book doesn't cover his family or past so to see how he’s weirdly unhinged he is along with one of the teachers, it’s random but if u can look past it there is so much foreshadowing and symbolism n overall love the book 🤭‼️

This is not my usual genre but I was pmesently surprised at how easily, and quickly, I took this story in!

Everything just *fits*. The chapters are small, making the story move quickly, but also getting right to the point. There's enough information to keep you curious and guessing but not enough to give away the ending which was, in fact, a pleasant twist!

There's a little bit of information I wish we would've had more of, mostly surrounding Bernie and her family. A few more clues to really tie that twist into the story a little better but otherwise I really love this story!
