The Science of Agatha Christie is the book that I needed but I did not know that I needed! I love Agatha Christie mysteries, in novels, in movies, television and even to lull me to sleep! I felt like I was behind the scenes and almost like collaborating with Agatha as she came up with her stories. Even if you haven't read many of her mysteries, it is a good read if you are curious about how to craft a tale or if the creation of a story is interesting to you, or if you like the science of a crime (lots of poison, debate about time of death).
Agatha Christie fans, this is a definite one to add to your collection. I received this as an ARC on my kindle but am ordering to add to my Agatha Christie bookshelf. It would also be a great listen on audiobook!
It also explores at what juncture in history the practice of crime investigation witnessed a notable rise in prevalence, as evidenced by its portrayal in the narrative of “murder on the Orient Express." With this book, one can be able to x-ray these novels and short stories, simplifying the intricate happenings and helping us understand these stories better.
Interesting thoughts behind the stories she wrote.
She remains to this day as the Grand Dame of Murder Mystery. She created the unreliable narrator, the best and finest detective (apart from his earlier predecessor Sherlock Holmes) in Hercule Poirot, and countless other characters that we have come to know and love or hate. I found this book to be extremely interesting I love the quotations I love how she came up with her story lines, I love that she was ahead of her time, writing at a level even higher than other murder mystery authors of her day.
I wish that there had been more background and less talking to experts. But all in all, an excellent book and a phenomenal resource to add to my collection. Bravo!
