Following a Macros dietary pattern is not a one-size-fits-all plan, but the Jewish Food Hero is here to help!

Commonly referred to as “flexible dieting”—allowing you to eat real foods without really depriving your body—Macros dietary plans count the three most common nutrient categories, or macronutrients, that provide you with most of your energy: protein, carbohydrates, and fats. “Macro” is short for macronutrient, and Macros counting reveals where the calories you consume are coming from and how they affect your body.

Kosher Macros is a cookbook like no other, with an array of kosher recipes that are aligned with the Macros diet and have flavor profiles inspired by favorite Jewish recipes. This cookbook will fill a void in that there are currently Macros Cookbooks available but these cookbooks are not appropriate for people who observe the Kosher laws because they include non-kosher foods and mix milk and meat in recipes. In addition, the flavor profiles do not necessarily appeal to Kosher eaters.

  4. Transfer beet into the bowl of a food processor and add the ricotta, lemon juice, sumac, and a large pinch of salt and pepper. Process until a smooth and creaming dip forms. If needed, you can add a splash of water to adjust the consistency.

This book is helping to lose weight and repair my relationship with food

This book is helping to lose weight and repair my relationship with food
I'm down 15 pounds after starting on a health journey I began after I realized my health was spiraling out of my control. But while losing weight is only one piece of my health challenge, I knew I didn't want it to be the focus of everything I do—I did NOT want to fall into disordered eating or develop any terrible habits to pile on to my already toppling pile of terrible habits. So, I created some rules for myself:1) I will not fast unless it is for religious reasons.2) I will not cut out foods or categorize foods as "good" or "bad." For me, moralizing food is dangerous, and I want no part of that.3) I will focus on going s l o w. I have heart issues, and losing weight too fast could make those issues worse. My main problem, though, has been figuring out how on earth to get enough protein and fiber in a day (I don't calorie count; I focus on protein and fiber because my diet is deficient in those), and that's when my sweet friend @jewishfoodhero reached out and said she understood the issue I was facing and did I want to check out her new project. HECK YES, I wanted to check it out!Kosher Macros by Kenden Alfond is a brilliant guide to learning how to balance your plate with your favorite foods without losing vital nutritional things (like protein and fiber, for me). Her recipes are kosher (this matters to me!), easy to make, incredibly delicious, and none of the ingredients require specialty markets, which I truly appreciate. The best part is that Alfond breaks down the science of balanced eating in such simple terms that it makes counting macros incredibly easy for me (I struggle with this HARD). She even includes worksheets and quick-glance information in the back to help individualize meal planning so that none of this needs to be more complicated than choosing fun recipes to try.Since I started playing with the recipes and worksheets, the weight has started coming off more consistently, but the best part is I am getting all the protein and fiber that my doctor told me I need to get each day.Check out this awesome cookbook (you don't have to be Jewish to enjoy kosher food!) by my brilliant friend, Kenden Alfond ❤

I can’t give this book enough praise! As a Registered Dietitian, I can confidently support Kendon’s explanation, calculations and implementation of creating a macronutrient balanced lifestyle. Her compilation of recipes are simple to prepare without skimping on nutrients. This book is a must read if you’re interested in upgrading your nutrition and understanding why this approach is so sustainable. Great job!

This book is just fabulous. The directions to following macros is very easily laid out, graphics are easy to follow as well. The recipe photos are so beautiful as well.
I received this as a gift from a friend and I am so glad because it’s a great addition to my kitchen. I do not keep a kosher kitchen and it doesn’t matter!!! I have tried 3 different recipes so far and love them all!
