About the author
I’m an author of spicy Regency romance with alpha heroes and independent heroines, layers of emotion, and lots of sizzle. I fell in love with historical romances and all things Regency—and especially all those dashing Regency heroes—while living in England, where I spent most of my time reading Jane Austen and getting lost in London (especially the getting lost part). I have traveled around the world, both as a tourist and as a volunteer with children's organizations in Peru, Ecuador, Thailand, and Mexico. I love to hike and fly airplanes, adore all things chocolate and coffee, and am a Doctor Who fanatic (everyone says my house *is* bigger on the inside!). I am a terrible cook who hopes to one day use my oven for something other than shoe storage. In my spare time, when I'm not writing or teaching, I enjoy tending the roses in my garden during the summer and reading historical romances during the winter. My fav authors are Elizabeth Hoyt (her Maiden Lane series is fantastic!), Sabrina Jeffries (fabulous emotion on every page), Lisa Kleypas (whose prose is simply divine!)and Sylvia Day (who isn’t afraid to take historical romance in all kinds of new and hot directions).
I've been writing since 2015, when All About Romance named me Best Debut Historical Romance Author for my debut series, THE SECRET LIFE OF SCOUNDRELS. DUKES ARE FOREVER won the 2016 Maggie Award for Best Historical Romance, and HOW I MARRIED A MARQUESS was a 2017 RITA finalist.
If you love history and romance as much as I do, I'd love to hear from you.

Soon you'll be transported to a realm in which anything the heart desires becomes possible. Ms. Harrington's lush depictions and characterisations of both the mischevious Annabelle Greene and the irascible rogue Quinton Carlisle transcend every page. Their multifaceted dimensions rapidly become evident not only as viewed by your perceptions but their own self realizations. Laugh through your tears as emotions paint your heart through brilliant prisms that fill your senses. Breathe in a world that leaves you with indelible impressions through writing that improves exponentially with each successive endeavor and without fail will leave your soul brimming with never ending wonder and delight.
I like this series so far. It kept me interested and turning pages. I'm hoping the 3rd book about Robert is good as well.
Quinton has always loved teasing Belle, nicknaming her "Bluebell," because she has bluestocking tendencies and always had her nose in a book. When he sees her grown up, he can't resist stealing a kiss, not realizing the repercussions that his actions would cause. Now, six years later, he's summoned by his aunt to Glenavon Castle, one of the late Lord Ainsley's estates. It seems that Lord Ainsley bequeathed the estate to Belle, but only on condition that she marry by age twenty-five or it will be given to the church. Lord Ainsley's intention was solely to protect Belle from her crooked father, but now she's rapidly approaching her birthday, and has a decided lack of suitors. Lady Ainsley's hope is that Quinton will marry Belle, but she tells him that she needs his help to weed out unsuitable prospective husbands. Quinton is on the brink of traveling to America to start a new life, but he agrees to his aunt's request to stay.
Belle and Quinton immediately feel the same attraction that caused all the trouble six years ago, and Quinton still acts like a naughty schoolboy who never grew up, teasing and annoying and tempting Belle. Quinton's plans to go to America are actually his first steps toward maturity. He's the third son of a duke, and wants to distance himself from his father's name and make it on his own. There is an estate waiting for him, where he can succeed or fail on his own merit. When Belle learns his plans, she decides to propose to him. He could run Glenavon Castle with her, still fulfilling his dream, or, if he wants, she's even agreeable to his going to America. She is crushed when Quinton turns her down, emphasizing that he will never marry.
Although I can understand both Belle's and Quinton's motivations and reasoning, their stubbornness did become tedious. Quinton refuses to marry, even though he greatly desires Belle, and this marriage will give him a home and estate. He fears love may come intruding, and he's seen how losing a loved one can hurt. Also, the estate would really be Belle's - never his. So he continues to drive away all prospective suitors before Belle even has a chance to meet them. As for Belle, she finally decides to give in and marry a fortune hunter, a man she feels no liking or respect for, just so that she will have a home, even though it would be under her husband's control.
As Belle's birthday draws closer, it feels impossible that this couple will ever be together, other than for a temporary, passionate affair. Will a dramatic event be enough to shake them up, and open their hearts to what they truly feel and what's really important? WHEN THE SCOUNDREL SINS concludes with a resolution that I found satisfying, and which gives both Belle and Quinton what they each need, and so much more.
3.5 stars as reviewed at rosesareblue dot net. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher.
Overall reaction to the story? I didn’t know what to expect out of Annabelle and Quinton to be honest, they had a history together that wasn’t all that pleasant (Though Quinn remembers the incident differently than Annabelle.) but the initial attraction was still there. Anna Harrington took two conflicted people with different goals, threw in an inheritance situation and created a lovely romance with a dash of teasing that made me smile throughout the whole story.
Describe the hero in five words: Playful. Stubborn. Smart. Charming. Loyal.
Did you like him? Not at first but he grew on me.
Why? At first Quinn came off as someone who didn’t take anything seriously except for the fun things in life. All he did was tease Annabelle ruthlessly and that didn’t leave any room for some serious relationship or character development. However, Annabelle’s situation sobered Quinn up enough for him to show his true colors but not too much to where he didn’t still get on Annabelle’s nerves now and again. I liked that he could be a bit of child with her but at the same time he was also kind, and a good listener. Quinn was also determined to help Annabelle find a way to keep her home without being forced to marry, something that he didn’t have to do since it didn’t affect him at all, to me that told me all I needed to know about him. He was a good guy even though he liked to make Annabelle mad.
Describe the heroine in five words: Determined. Kind. Intelligent. Loyal. Strong.
Did you like her? Yes.
Why? Annabelle’s situation would make anyone cry but not her. She was willing to tackle the situation head on instead of letting everyone around her try and solve her problems. Not that she didn’t know she needed help but for the most part, she was well informed about her situation and had several ideas going. I loved that she always tried to stay two steps ahead on the problems in her life, and never stood there like a wilting flower waiting to be saved. I liked that Quinn’s teasing didn’t send her into a swoon; she stood there and dished it out the best she could. I do love a heroine who stands her ground.
Let’s talk about the romance: Quinn and Annabelle’s romance started a few years before the present timeline in the book. He was young, stupid, and flexing his seduction skills and she was the unfortunate victim of bad timing, flimsy dress material, and gossip. The little bit of attraction between them at that point took a backseat to animosity on Annabelle’s part. Still, the attraction was still there a few years later when they meet up again it’s just that this time with Annabelle’s inheritance situation these two couldn’t get away from each other. I liked the whole I-Hate-You-But-I-Still-Think-You’re-Hot vibe that these two had going though I don’t think Quinn every hated Annabelle, he was just fascinated and frustrated by her. The romance was built on these sometimes humorous interactions but also on Quinn really seeing Annabelle as more than just a pretty face that he liked to torment. He grew to admire her and that lead to love. I liked that there was more to these two than just a physical attraction.
Click It or Skip It? Click It. Anna Harrington’s second book in the Carlisle series has more humor in it with Quinn and Annabelle’s bickering but it’s still a steamy romance with plenty to offer.
