I reside in the Texas Panhandle on land the American Indian and Comancheros once roamed with ghosts lurking around every corner. Texas is rich in history. I love research and looking for little known tidbits to add realism to my stories and quite often make a nuisance of myself at museums and libraries. Besides writing, I love to travel and explore out of the way spots. Just don't ask me to work in the garden. I kill everything I plant.

This is only the third Linda Broday book I have had the pleasure of reading, but it will not be the last. However, this review will be somewhat different than my other reviews because, with this book, not only the book but the author deserve to be reviewed. First, the book, "The Heart of a Texas Cowboy" is unlike any western romance I have ever read. This Legend series has shown what a true cowboy is like, but in this book, Houston shows the true grit that made up a real cowboy. He fought what he had to and he loved as hard as he fought. He saw beauty where it truly reigns, in the heart and soul of a woman, not in the superficial beauty too many men look for. And a child was a Heaven-sent gift, no matter who conceived them. As a matter of fact, Houston and Lara could teach a great many people today about true, unconditional love. If you miss this book, you will have missed a treasure. I do not want to spoil the story so will not give any more facts about the story. Suffice it to say, if I never read another book, I will have read one of the best. Now for Mrs. Broday. It isn't often that an author can capture my imagination to the point that I cannot wait to get back to my book. This lady goes beyond talent. She has a God-given talent that most of us wish we had in some form or other. When she puts words together, they reach out and grab you and do not let you go until you have absorbed the entire story. You will shed tears, you will laugh out loud, you will want to thrash some of the characters for being so obtuse and not seeing what is right in front of their face, you will want to shake them, hold them, heal them, etc. I could go on and on, but to summarize, her characters come alive and draw you into their story. This is an author that has a lot more stories to tell. I, for one, will be willing to read each and every one. To Ms. Linda Broday, thank you and please keep them coming or as Houston would say, "Keep those dogies moving."

This book is fabulous! I’ve spent a wonderful day reading this book and enjoying every minute. There are moments when my heart is in my throat; there are times I drop a tear with sadness; there are times I love Henry to pieces. Never in all the books I’ve ever read, has there been a Henry that touched me so much. He is such an integral part of the story that he became my “hero”… Thanks for including him in this book. I loved Houston to the max and felt the pain and anguish when he lost his love. Then again, I adored his big heart when he found Lara and became her “life” and protector. This book has everything and can be enjoyed by adults as there are sensual scenes which are written to perfection.

Long at 384 pages, but there's a lot of action, to keep things moving. The bad guy is a bit psycho, but that's the way it is in the stories. The final battle was not as deus ex machina as it seemed, for it was nicely setup with at least two mentions. All in all, satisfying story.

Awesome read! Love cowboy stories with strong female leads. Both Houston and Lara had been dealt some bad hands in relationships with the opposite sex. The growth of their love with the suspense/excitement of the outlaws stalking them on the cattle drive made for a great read. This is a book that is well-written and keeps your attention. It made me want to read instead of sleeping! That is the sign of a great book.

I am truly loving this series! Houston and Lara were two wounded people both having suffered in different ways. Houston's trust was broken by betrayal and Lara was hurt by a man who raped her and left her with a baby girl to raise. Houston was just such a wonderful and compassionate man who agreed to marry Lara rather then see her suffer the shame of an illegitimate child. This was just such a wonderful story to read. It made feel so many different emotions and kept me on the edge of my seat. Looking forward to reading Luke's story. Thanks Linda for writing such a wonderfully entertaining story!

Once again Linda broday write an amazing book. You are hooked right away by this 2 cheracters. Houston lost the woman he wanted to marry and is push toward this marriage. Lara had herself been hurt and is marrying to give a name to little Gracie. Quickly they realised they need each other to live. With a cattle drive on its way and a really bad man following them and trying to kill them they do their best to help each other. The secondary characters are so well written as well. Henry and clay are my favourite second role beside Luke and Sam and really hope we will see them again in the next book along with Caroline and nick who give us a reason to laugh a little during this story. Love it
