Editorial Reviews

Review

"What an appealing detective story, Well developed and eccentric characters, problems to be solve, humor on very page and a well written plot line. R. L. Fink's book is sure to intrigue readers from 9- through middle school, with obvious allowances for reading levels. This is especially true as the author has blessed the book with a rich vocabulary."
~ Indie B.R.A.G.

This book, just like the previous one, is a short, fast-paced, witty and fun read that will leave you feeling like you can don a fedora with a bubble pipe and start solving your own mysteries. This series has proven to be perfect for kids of all ages!
~ BookTrib

A great follow-up to the first in series, this sequel continues delivering captivating storylines and lovable characters!
~ Nellie Steele

"Mickie McKinney is an excellent book for a child. The title and cover art would have encouraged me to purchase the book. The storyline is age-appropriate and exciting to read. Most children would enjoy reading about a child who is a private eye. The book will hold a reader's interest all the way through. I read book one, and this is a great companion to it. I didn't notice any issues with the rhythm or pace of the reading. I also didn't see any problems with the writing—good solid book for children."

About the Author

R.L. Fink grew up in Topanga, California as the eldest of three. An avid listener, then reader of detective stories, the only thing better than writing detective novels would have been to become a character in one. But since that never happened, R.L. Fink chose to write a detective series based on a middle school experience that never happened, but would've been fun if it did, with friends that never existed, but would've been fun if they had.

A cute story about teenage detectives. I loved the characters and their world.
The mysteries were fun, and I love the way the author developed their friendship throughout the story. I hadn’t read book one before reading this one, but it works as a standalone, though I must say I’m curious now about book one.
All in all, this is a solid middle grade book.

I was excited to read another Mickie McKinney book and see how the author would develop the characters and their world. I was not disappointed. I enjoyed the Teamwork Troubles story and latest mysteries Mickey and his team solved as they worked out the conflicts in their friendships. The book was very enjoyable and is a fun and engaging read for kids.

This is a Middle Grade series that is proving to be an excellent teaching tool for adolescents. Trouble with Teamwork strikes on yet another issue that deserves guidance in this age. Fink teaches on a level that is exciting for this age to read, comprehend, and incorporate into their psyches. Yet again this pediatrician approves. Keep them coming Ms. Fink!

Mickie McKinney is an excellent book for children. I like the storyline and how the characters mix. I read book one and enjoyed it too. The story is age-appropriate and exciting to read. The characters would be interesting to a child reader. I think most kids would enjoy this book.

What I loved about this book is that it wasn’t dumb. Middle schoolers and even younger kids can learn some decent vocabulary while enjoying clever dialogue and a fun mystery.
I read this book before reading book one and it was fine as a standalone. I can’t wait to see the new books in the series.

So excited about Book Two! R.L.Fink is a grand writer! Truly. These books should be in all Middle Schools for all middle school readers. A delightful read!
