A valuable book for anyone wanting to learn and grow mentally and emotionally
5 Stars
A valuable book for anyone wanting to learn and grow mentally and emotionally
I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in bettering themselves. Whether someone has had life experiences that have pushed them to deeply desire a change in their habits and lifestyle, or someone who is simply curious about ways to improve their life, this book is relatable and has several helpful insights to allow for effective change in someone’s life. As long as someone reading this book is open to working on themselves, then this book is for them. The book was filled with many valuable insights that I look forward to bringing forward in my day-to-day life. The most valuable insight for me was how the overarching concepts were discussed in the book. By being able to connect to the concepts of Happier Being and Inner Giggle, for example, I was able to take a step further into my personal growth than I have with other books of this same genre. I was able to better understand what I want to strive for in life and what things are creating mental and physical roadblocks that I need to work on because of the way these different concepts were described. This was a new take on some things I’ve heard before but was never able to fully dive into. With the relatable discussions in this book, I was able to more fully dive in and start looking at ways to effectively improve my life. I look forward to implementing a more regular journaling routine to continue to put what I’ve read in this book into practice and grow from new experiences where I’ve implemented what I’ve learned from reading this book.

I found the book to be very relatable and easy to dive into. I appreciate the ease of focusing on 3 simple energy boosters that can increase my happiness. I’ve recently started a new career, and have been struggling a lot mentally/emotionally the past few months with all the change. One of the changes has involved traveling every weekend from central California to Minnesota, so along with the stress of the new job, I’m exhausted from travel and time change. I had a friend try to tell me I need to prioritize getting better sleep, but it wasn’t until reading this book that I’ve really taken to heart the 3 energy boosters, and I’ve therefore decided to focus on improving my sleeping habits, and giving myself more time to sleep even if it means doing less work, because ultimately I feel my work will improve with better sleep. This is a great book and tool - and I look forward to putting the knowledge and guidance to good use!

Dr. Leead’s whole person approach to one’s well-being is impressive. I was surprised to see that as a psychologist, she incorporates in her book - and perhaps even actually emphasizes - the physical aspect of our happiness with the mental and psychological aspects of it- I find it superb! I gained lots of tips from her practical suggestions of how to prioritize my joy, and I appreciated how she shared her extensive clinical experience with some examples of her prior clients' stories. I find her writing catching, easy to read, and I certainly feel how she made a persuasive argument for the benefits of optimizing my happiness. It is not an emotion to just wish for, it is a positive emotion to work on. What a welcome addition to my personal growth journey.

I found the book very informational / timely and would recommend it to anyone open to growth in their life. The chapters flow nicely with a nice mix of practical information, personal stories from the author, and other quotes with references backed by other authors/Doctors. It has reminded me that I am interested in creating different lasting healthful habits, and the education with steps / tools provided are giving me the push towards growth mode that I was looking for. Having been laid off recently I am finding an opportunity to learn and grow again. I am implementing some of these steps along with being focused on learning something new each day, stepping out of my comfort zone, and acknowledging my progress - this will help me be a better version of me for my next career adventure! There is something for everyone here. I will be suggesting this book to many of my friends.

This book is impressive, giving you all the fundamentals you need to flourish in life. Not to mention that the author is such a good writer! It flows, not too wordy, and is easy to read. It’s also upbeat and positive - filled with advice but definitely not “ Pollyannaish”. I like that it’s not intense yet very thought-provoking. And of course, each of the chapters touches on major life issues that can hold us back, and then Dr. Leead gives you the tools to get past those hurdles - with the ultimate goal of HAPPIER! It’s a fundamentally great read - highly suggest!

This book puts together everything you need, in one accessible place, so you can address healing areas in your life which are directly influenced by your own habits or lack thereof! I really enjoyed reading about how disease and chronic health issues can be overwhelming and yet improved, if not entirely in the body, then by improving your state of mind. That can directly affect how you feel about the situation you find yourself in. It also can give you back some control which is what we have longed for all along! The entirety of Chapter 10 is dedicated to this and dealing with chronic physical stress / ways to heal. You can find lots of really valuable advice there.

This book is really for anyone that wants to find a joyful synergy in their body. To recognize that all the parts make a whole and can be worked on “in parts” so it’s easier to begin the journey. Working on the parts will equal a body brought together physically, mentally and spiritually to a healthier more appreciative spirit for life, regardless of the obstacles that seem insurmountable.

There’s a lot of wonderful information and research in the book, and when you feel like you can’t absorb this many facts or details, the author provides a wonderful synopsis at the chapters end. It’s spectacular!! I can be confident I can go back and hit those points and put them into action quickly without rereading a chapter, as I focus on its points and put its steps into action in my daily living!

5.0 out of 5 stars I really enjoyed this book

The topic of Happiness, what it means, and it's impact has been on my mind in the past few years. I was amazed by the amount of scientific research that has already been done on the topic and feel that more people should learn about the impact that being happier can have on their lives. Being happy is good for us! This book is written by an author who is a Psychologist, and it quotes research by others as well as the writer's experience from her practice. If you are like me, and are looking for facts and science based information, this is a great book to learn from.
One of my favorite quotes from the book: ""Ask any parent what they hope for most for their child, and they tell you it’s a happy life. But how often do we tell our kids that this is the most important expectation we have of them? And how about us, how often do we model this priority in our own behavior?"" I love this point! We say that being happy is what we strive for, but what do we mean by that, and how do we go about achieving it is entirely unclear.
This book is a great guide to answering these questions. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys learning about human behaviour, what impacts it, and how to change it. It is also a great resource for anyone looking to make changes in their lives, and wants some science based advice on getting there. A great book from Dr. Tal!

Dr. Leead’s reasoning of the how and the why to conceptualize your life through the lens of your Happier Being is exceptional. With digestible  science based evidence and stories from her clinical experience as a psychologist, she manages to provide us creative ways to listen to our true self, so we can ignite the meaning of our being.
I particularly appreciated how she gave abundant mention to the power of human connections. In times when we are so disconnected due to many life circumstances, the internet age or the Covid pandemic, still making significant efforts to keep our social connections strong rung very true to me.  A valuable book - for sure!
