Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

The authors of this work believe top salespeople can be developed by applying the principles of hypnosis to sales presentations. They give a brief history of hypnosis and describe how it has been used in the counseling professions. They then show how the same techniques of trust building, wording, voice tone, and delivery can be applied to sales situations. Although this may sound like some shady sales gimmick, it is actually very good advice on the art of persuasion. Less general in approach and more technique-oriented than Kathy Aaronson's Selling on the Fast Track ( LJ 5/15/89), this is recommended for larger libraries or those with large sales collections.

This books is definitely a must have if you are in sales. I bought this book when I was challenged in my business a while back. I loved reading it and I agree with the teachings but I had to clear about myself first before applying these principles. Instead, I went on a journey to clear my limiting beliefs by reading books on mind and body connection - namely books by Dr.Bruce Lipton and Dr. Candice Pert. I go clear about my purpose and pursued my dream to write books as I am now doing. I read this book again recently to apply to publishing business and the difference in reading it again and actually applying it to something I am very passionate about has made a vast difference. My books are all based on pursuing your purpose and stepping into your vulnerability. Speak your truth and the riches will follow. You can read more about these books on Amazon Kindle -  The Poison of Self  and A Story of Love - The Power of Stepping Into Your VulnerabilityThe Beginners Companion Workbook For - The Secret Power of Creating an Amazing Life  and The Secret Power of Creating An Amazing Life - Cracking The Code of The Law of Attraction

I had this book many years ago and lost my copy. I was thrilled that Amazon had an original unused copy!

As you read this review,..the good chance is that you do have interest in hypnosis & selling skills.

Then, before you buy this book,..
...do you appreciate the work of hypnosis of Dr.Milton Erickson?

If your answer is 'yes',..then this book will of your powerful selling skills.

The challenge is 'not' on the principles, this book teaches;..but it is on you, the reader;..because there is big difference between..reading & knowing the principles..and embracing them into the your natural habits.

Then, if you know ways to hypnotize you...to embrace these new hynotic selling behavior,..you surely are on the great path to sales performance.

My bottom-line suggestion to you is thus, "Hypnotize yourself to be able to unconsciously use hypnotic skills to hypnotize others to buy your products!"

As a professional sales trainer and certified clinical hypnotherapist, I know from fifteen years of experience that hypnosis is a neutral "technology". Like the "Force" of Star Wars fame, the intention of the user determines whether it is used for good or ill.

It has been my experience that the average salesperson is unaware of the majority of persuasion techniques found in this book. Bearing that in mind, this is one of the best book available for understanding the use of Ericksonian conversational hypnosis techniques for improved selling.

A final caveat: for those sales professionals who don't believe in their product and that it can provide value and benefit to the client, find another product. For those who would use this information to selfish ends and manipulate potential buyers, find another line of work. A one time sale does not a salesman make. Developing relationships to create satisfied repeat customers for life is the true hallmark of a genuine sales professional.

Powerful stuff. For best results, use wisely.

Dr. Moines is one of the Greats in Sales, the first to bring NLP to the sales process and showing how using influence to predict the customer's behavior in the sales process. This book is essential reading for anyone who is serious about sales as a foundation for learning the process and improving their sales presentation and closing by mastering Scripts.

Valuable classic for coaches, consultants , leaders and sales pros who want to elevate their communication and influence effectiveness. One nit is that it is dated - prime for update to put in present day context and make an audiobook
Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2008
I was impressed with this book for about the first 160 pages of it.

Its basic stuff about how to use hypnotic language to establish more
rapport with your prospects. Just because it is basic information
doesn't mean it isn't useful.

The last 100 pages of the book is a long pitch for the authors'
script-writing and training services - perhaps this will be of
interest to readers in corporate sales management, but I found
it to be irrelevant.

The chapters on how to use language to increase trust are good.
The example conversations are clear too.

Around page 160 the book turns to sales scripts. Ostensibly
these chapters are to provide us with information about
writing sales scripts... but they really just seem to be
saying - "please consider hiring our firm to write your
script book for you,"

I would have appreciated more "how to do it yourself"
MEAT than all the "its too hard to do it yourself" rhetoric
and filler at the end.

--------UPDATE

I am re-reading this. I think this information is perhaps
better presented verbally than in a book. A book is sure
cheaper than a seminar with the authors though.

It's a useful, non-technical breakdown of useful NLP methods
good salespeople use intuitively. If you choose to use
this stuff it will take real work to internalize it.

This is not the hypnosis that you think of when you say the word, "hypnosis." It is more of what to say, how to say it and when to say it. Having been in sales for a couple of years, I had not heard about many of the things explained in this book. It is very concise and to the point. It does not go on and on on one subject, instead it gives a lot of information. Towards the end, it shows you how to put it all together for everyday use. I would strongly recommend it.

Also wirklich tolles Buch.

5.0 out of 5 stars A neat reframe of Ericksonian hypnosis
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on May 20, 2012
This book is a little bit different to your regular sales manual, offering a new angle, largely courtesy of Milton Erickson. Here we see Erickson's hypnosis and `angle of least resistance' techniques developed and tailored to suit the needs of today's salespeople, in a set of skilful reframes. I heartily recommend it.

Having worked in sales for several years, I had to buy this book to see if I could learn anything new. I was delighted with the content, which helped me to understand those times when I watched my friends perform seemingly impossible sales.

With utter astonishment, I've sometimes witnessed friends of mine closing sales with apparently mad tactics. I have watched in disbelief, hearing them say seemingly very inappropriate things, and watching them close the sale, leaving me scratching my head and thinking to myself `What on earth was going on there? Had I said what he/she had said, the customer would almost certainly have laughed and told me that they had a bus to catch!' Well, inside this book it tells me the sorts of things that were going on, explaining what they did and how it worked - it tells me how that person closed that sale in a situation where I would have applied more conventional strategies and bombed.

Of course confidence plays a key role here, but there is a great section on self-hypnosis at the end that covers this very issue very well indeed.
