He barely has time to catch his breath...

Army veteran Cameron Pope arrives back in Jubilee, Kentucky, for the first time in years. He barely has time to catch his breath when he becomes embroiled in a race of life or death for his little niece and a deadly hunt for the human traffickers who are destroying the peace of his mountain town. When he's reunited with Rusty Caldwell—a woman from his past he's never stopped thinking about—he wants to believe they can finally be together. But Rusty belongs to one of the rich families in Jubilee—the same rich folks who scorn the rural families living on the surrounding mountainside. Cameron and Rusty will have to find a way to end the feuding and take down the human trafficking ring if they're to have any chance at happiness.

Don’t Back Down
Don’t Back Down by Sharon SalaJubilee, Kentucky series book 1. Contemporary romantic suspense. Second chance troupe.Veteran Cameron Pope returns to his home town of Jubilee, KY just in time for he and his trained dog Ghost, to rescue his niece from human traffickers. The FBI gets involved since it wasn’t just one child missing and Rusty Caldwell flies in for some undercover investigation. Having met and fallen into each others arms before, Cam and Rusty reunite and work together to track down all the people involved in the kidnappings.Compelling and involved, the story moves quickly uncovering one suspect after another while also tying extended family together.🎧 I listened to an audiobook version narrated by Tim Lounibos. The story and performance is told in third person and flows quickly from romance to suspense and back. I liked the clear emotion and differences for characters you can clearly hear. I think the narrator does a better job as the male character but that’s as expected. The elderly female voices are a bit amusing to me. I found the story intense and gripping as a listener.I sped the playback to 1.5 as this is my preferred speed that is closest to a midwest conversation.

There are writer’s, then there are WRITERS, and Sharon Sala is one of those that writes a story that unfolds like a Butterfly coming out of it’s Cocoon! Surprising, excitement, suspenseful and brilliant! Rusty sees a man in a Hotel, who she clicks with, right away. Soldier Boy is what she calls him, and he calls her Angel, for just one night, before he ships out and She takes her next case.
After an accident, Rusty needs time to heal, but is sent on a fact finding mission with her family, in Jubilee, Kentucky. I have to say, Sharon writes her stories, with her towns, in the best places, and best names. As she takes a Helicopter ride to Jubilee, she thinks about her Soldier Boy, and wonders if he made it home.
While She is on her way there We meet Former Special Ops Cameron Pope, who lives up on the Mountain in Jubilee, when his niece is kidnapped, and he gets all his family on the Mountain out looking for the kidnappers. This is also Where we meet Ghost. A Dog who came home with Cam, who was self trained in the war and he would only listen to Cam. There is so much action packed in the first 30 minutes of this story, you could be eating bon bon’s and find them all gone in just that time.
Cam feels something is off with all the missing people and the kidnappings going on, and because He and Ghost finds his niece, he needs to give his statement to the head FBI Agent Rusty. In that exact moment you feel that time stops, and their elation of seeing each other again, feels like your witnessing in your mind of how many years have went by and you can feel the love. And that first hug makes you feel warmth of a fire on a cold winters night.
Rusty really can’t trust anyone there except Pope, so after some threats, she moves to his house and acts like she has left the area. The web of Human trafficking begins weaving, and the web is huge. So together with Ghost, they begin to unravel the hierarchy. But it seems to never end.
This story takes you on a roller coaster ride with twist and turns. And this is exactly what Human trafficking is like. Always snipping a web. Cameron, Rusty and Ghost are on the hunt, find a little time for reconnecting, meeting families, and taking down bad guys, even across borders.
Just like all Sharon’s book, You fall in love with the characters, the places, and the vivid stories that will keep you thinking about them for days! And then You find out, it’s a series, and You try to pre order the next one, but it’s just a tad early. However, You know the next book in the series is written, and you feel like You’re in a desert, and you find a Ice Cold drink of water. Kudos!

There is nothing I didn't like about this book. Sharon Sala did it again. As an avid mystery reader of a certain age. I this very hard to keep me guessing, but she did. It is one of those one sitting novels no matter how long it takes. You will definitely be kept intrigued and without a lot of sex. Well, what can I say maybe just enough. The plot line is great and you'll live the characters. In fact, I'd really like to see more of them all.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were interesting, the storyline fast-paced, thrilling, and absorbing. It was told in multiple third-person POVs and I loved reading all the different POVs and learning about the characters, seeing inside their heads, and trying to sus out the bad guys(s). I loved the main characters – Rusty, Cameron, and Ghost (a white German Shepard who owned his parts in the story). I don’t think the story would have been the same without him; he played a key part. Rusty and Cameron’s chance meeting five years previous was love at first sight and a night to remember before they parted ways with no names, no contact, and no regrets (well, aside from never knowing who the other was later down the road). Now five years later they both get the shock and thrill of their lives when they meet again and work together to bring down a s@x trafficking ring. I loved how Rusty and Cameron’s romance blended in with the storyline but did not overwhelm it in any way. They were so cute together and I loved their HEA.

This story is full of suspense, drama, mystery, FBI procedures, danger, romance, and family. It also includes kidnapping, abuse, and the mention of s@x trafficking and r@pe (without details shared). I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series.

Two strangers meet in a hotel lobby. Instant attraction. No names exchanged after one night go their separate ways. 5 years later the action begins in a town called Jubilee. They meet again and the attraction is still there. Team up as partners to solve a crime ring using Jubilee as its hunting ground. I enjoyed this book and will be reading the others in this series. Sharon Sala is a author new to my reading library. Will be checking on her books she has written.

I am a first time reader of this author and was very very pleased with the book "Don't Back Down". I am a seasoned reader of many different types of books, everything from gothic romance to end of the world. I will be reading more works of the author. She started to story with a hook and kept going through out the whole story. One of the things I liked was the way the story ended she took her time and completed the story not just chop off that they lived happy ever after. Again she has a new fan in me.

I enjoyed reading this book. It was so different from other romance books in that the female is strong and a badass. There are twist and turns that have involved trying to figure out the bad guys. It keep you guessing who is the evil people and who their leader. You will key in on who is the evil boss then the story unfold and lead you someone else. The characters are well developed, strong and intense. You will laugh at the tactics of the dog in the story. The lovemaking is beautiful and hot. You will love the strong family dynamics and the support they freely give to each other. Outstanding.

Too easy. The re-meet came about so obviously. .clues jumped out at you and one thing led straight to another -.not enough twists and turns. The scene settings were quite descriptive and enjoyable. But think the plot needed to thicken.
