A time-travel adventure that just might make you a believer. The Time Machine by H. G. Wells was fun, as was the enjoyable A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle and Jack Finney's delightful Time and Again. If you enjoyed these books, you’ll definitely want to read Mission in Time. However, after reading Mission in Time, this might be the first time you actually find yourself believing in time travel. Imagine being sent on a time-travel mission expecting to arrive in a certain period of time and finding yourself in a very different era—a major period in the history of the United States. Imagine finding yourself with people totally unfamiliar with things you’ve been accustomed to all your life: your skills, foods, views on sanitation, means of travel, kinds of recreation and even your vocabulary. Imagine, too, that despite your advantage over the people you meet in history, you find yourself learning as much from them as they learn from you. Whether you’re a time-travel aficionado or a lover of historic novels, you won’t be disappointed with Mission in Time.

I truly enjoyed reading this book. The historical aspect was fascinating and enthralling as it wraps you into 1775 and the things that were going on just prior to our independence.
I highly recommend this book it is a good and enjoyable read.

I never delved to much into American history but this time travel novel brought me smack into the middle of that time when the seed of revolution were being sown in the American colonies. Given the 1775 time frame we get a glimpse of the division between the loyalists and patriots in New England. The author is a seasoned writer whose focus has always been history of his beloved Massachusetts and this comes true in the details off the story. The only weakness in that story is the science part. Not much there, just enough to bring the main characters back in time to deal with the realities that didn't include such modern necessities as toilet paper, cell phones and a slower pace of life. Overall, the book was both entertaining and instructive. I would recommend it.

... but after the slow start this book is a blast! There's not a ton of character development but the history is VERY well done and accurate. Downloading him 2 now

The initial, moder part of the book had many technological inaccuracies around space travel and time travel. Made it seem very odd fashioned in its premise. However, the adventures in the past were amusing and fairly interesting.

More on history then science fiction, a fun read but a little lacking in substance. I liked the premise, I would like to see a follow up book to try to answer many unanswered questions.

Okay, here’s some American history the kiddies (not to mention their parents and teachers) will actually enjoy...and remember. Gil and Tom are on a timeship out of (where else?) Area 51 that at the hands of a Hal-like computer deposits them 200 years in the past rather than the experimental two years in the future they had planned on. Just in time for the Revolutionary War—the two tourists from 2015 join the Patriot cause and we see the human side of the times: their way of life, the viewpoints of Whigs and Tories. Well, it’s light, fun, and painless. Recommended.

Nevada and New Mexico have no common borders. A two hole privy would have to be bigger than a phone booth. People in Massachusetts would not keep leaves outside the privy to be rained too snowed on. I did not verify the battle details.
Editing is poor. Grammatical errors, repetition and misspelling.
Theme is interesting but poorly executed. The amateur writing could be polished for a young adult historical novel about the beginning of the American Revolution.
I completed this volume but won't read the rest of the series.

A unique story of time travel that passes the test for probability. What would you do if you found yourself stranded in 1775 at the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Even with your future knowledge of science, engineering, physics and history how would you live? Would you miss the conveniences of the future world you came from or would you adapt? This is well written, I do wish there was some more depth regarding keys figures of the time. A nice read, I hope there is a continuation of this story of what happens to the intrepid astronauts turned Minutemen.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most thought-provoking book I have ever read!!!

This book will not let you sleep because you will find yourself trying to help the two main characters. This book is so addictive that I missed meals and bed times but enjoyed it from the first word to the last .It was well written and the history was well researched. A brilliant work by a brilliant storyteller.

Slow to get into and a great deal of unnecessary (to the story) info re the American war of independence, but basically a good read. However would have liked to see more play on the time paradox created by making the 18c aware of 21c tecnology.

Not a bad story to read on holiday in flight etc. The story is a bit weak and the ending rather predictable. As an avid time travel reader I found it worth teading.

While mission in time is a good read it seemed to lead the reader around. I liked the book but felt I wanted more when the story ended
