About the author
Angela Marsons is the Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of the DI Kim Stone series and her books have sold more than 5 million in 7 years.
She lives in Worcestershire with her partner and their 2 cheeky Golden Retrievers.
She first discovered her love of writing at Junior School when actual lessons came second to watching other people and quietly making up her own stories about them. Her report card invariably read "Angela would do well if she minded her own business as well as she minds other people's".
After years of writing relationship based stories (The Forgotten Woman and Dear Mother) Angela turned to Crime, fictionally speaking of course, and developed a character that refused to go away.
She is signed to Bookouture.com for a total of 28 books in the Kim Stone series and her books have been translated into 30 languages.
Many of her books, including Blood Lines, Dead Souls, Broken Bones, Fatal Promise and Dead Memories reached the #1 spot on Amazon on pre-orders alone and the translation of Dead Souls, La Verita Sepolte, recently won the prestigious Primo Bancarella award.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 11, 2015This is just an unbelievable debut thriller by British author Angela Marsons. Her book reads as if she has been writing best sellers for years.
The action as well as the intrigue starts up immediately. And I mean immediately, as in the prologue! Eventually we are dealt several murders occurring both 10 years previous and in the present. We are gradually introduced to a large cast of characters, all fleshed out to some extent making it easy to keep them straight. The protagonist, DI Kim Stone, has had an extremely hard upbringing. She is left with scars, including minimal social skills, yet she has a deep burning desire to come to the aid of suffering innocents. Her zeal in this respect is somewhat uncontrolled which pretty much keeps her in the doghouse with her superiors. On the other hand, her team members have a deep respect for her and are extremely loyal and protective towards her. Kim is damaged and her past is fed to us in small doses as the story of her challenge to solve the murders progresses. I found myself intensely caring and rooting for her.
Ms. Marsons does a wonderful job, not only with the protagonist, but the supporting characters, both good and bad. We are able to get into their heads, which to me always enriches a tale. I also found the characters to be believable. I particularly liked the close (but nonromantic) relationship between Kim and her partner Bryant.
There is a sinister air that pervades the book creating unrelenting tension for the reader. Twists and turns abound as the deliciously complex plot unfolds. There are 3 instances in the novel (chapter 20, chapter 66 and one other section) that actually gave me chills and goosebumps, they were so terrifyingly sick. As the story progressed, my interest did not flag for one moment, and the last 15% of the book was crazy good! Even at 96%, I was asking myself “what the hell is going on?” You will just have to experience it yourself to appreciate it.
I highly recommend Silent Scream to all thriller fans. This is one not to be missed. It will easily make my list of top 10 books of 2015. I have my eye out for the second book (Evil Games) in what I suspect will be an outstanding series.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 11, 2015This is the author's first book in the Detective Inspector Kim Stone series. It is also her first novel. Angela Marsons has good potential in writing crime thriller novels. She shows great talent in keeping the reader interested from the first page to the last.
Detective Inspector Kim Stone of Halesowen Station is the head of a team of three detectives, Detective Constable Stacey Wood, Detective Sergeant Bryant, and Detective Sergeant Kevin Dawson.
Kim Stone has her own personal history which is an awful childhood. She and her brother, Mikey, were unhealthy children. Kim managed to get over her illnesses but Mikey had succumbed. Her mother was a psychiatric case and was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital. Kim had no relationship with her mother at all. Her mother, before hospitalization, had attempted to murder her brother because she could not cope. Kim had saved his life. Kim had never got over Mikey's death.
Kim Stone and her team were investigating the murder of Theresa Wyatt, a 47 year old principal of a boy's school and Tom Curtis. As the story develops this leads them onto a series of three murders of young girls at Crestwood, a home for disturbed orphan girls abandoned by their parents.
Kim is a very thorough investigator, who is highly motivated. She has a difficult character in that she is not pleasant towards potential witnesses that she interviews. She lacks sensitivity in many circumstances. Kim shows empathy for one of the characters, Lucy Payne, who has a wasting muscular disease and is severely handicapped. She is the daughter of William Payne one of the characters in the story. Bryant is always by Kim's side in investigations as he has a more easy-going character and acts as a break for her when she becomes a bit too aggressive verbally.
The plot is well developed and there are many players involved that sometimes becomes overwhelming for the reader. There are moments in the story that the reader cannot keep up with the new developments in the case. The story tends to have moments of dragging on because of this minor flaw.
Eventually, despite a few digressions, all the loose ends of the plot tie up and this is what keeps the reader's interest.
This is a great book for readers who love intriguing thrillers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coole Story und Charakter

5.0 out of 5 stars DARK, FAST-PACED THRILLER
"Silent Scream" is first in a series of Detective Kim Stone thrillers by author, Angela Marsons. The book’s prologue is set in 2004, in England’s Black Country. The landscape is bleak and a group of five are making a silent pact as a body is buried. And so the intrigue begins. In the same area in current day, a series of murders occurs, beginning with that of respected headmistress, Teresa Wyatt who was found strangled. As nothing was missing from her person or home, the police immediately rule out robbery. Detective Kim Stone is the lead investigating officer who soon ascertains that Teresa had a keen interest in the site of a potential archaeological dig in what was once the grounds of a former children’s home where she’d worked. The murders which follow that of Teresa Wyatt are matched by the discovery of the bodies of children at the site of the home. Kim realises she is on the hunt for a serial killer whose handiwork spans decades. In the relentless search for the killer, she is haunted by her own demons, having spent time in a children’s home herself. She knows she must act quickly to apprehend the perpetrator before any more lives are lost. Including her own.
You would think that writers would have a way with words, given what they do. Sadly, many don’t – in this age of computers, the Internet and Wikipedia, their ability to write is limited to putting words on a page and hoping for the best. Not so, Angela Marsons. "Silent Scream" is an extraordinary debut novel (which eventually sold over a million copies). The writing is crisp and clear which adds an edge to this already dark, nail-biting thriller. Characters are three-dimensional and it is not long before the reader is intimately acquainted with the dramatis personae, good and bad. Scenes involving police procedure add a touch of realism to the story. Angela Marsons is a force to be reckoned with in the thriller-writing genre. Script-like dialogue adds to the joy – and the thrill -- of reading this book. Though it might best to read it under the covers.

I heard about this author on Twitter and decided to give it a try.... ended up binge-reading the whole series.... I can't believe Angela Marsons isn't more known. Her characters are incredibly endearing and the thrillers full of delicious suspense and surprises.... If you like Ian Rankin, Karin Slaughter or Susie Steiner, you'll love Angela Marsons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good
Kim is so damaged and so focused on her work, that she even notice how great she can be to others. Really hope she open a little and find a guy who sees life a little more hopeful.
