On the day she and her mother escaped her cruel father, Emma Washington vowed to never fall in love.

Now, Emma is a back-to-school PhD student with bigger and better things to worry about. That is, until one night, exhausted, slightly tipsy, and on her way home from a party, the glaring white light of a car comes crashing toward her, changing her life forever. Instead of waking up in a 21st-century hospital, she finds herself waking up in the backwaters of London, Victorian England, 1881…

Trapped in a time where everything she once knew is considered witchcraft, Emma discovers that Victorian London is a harsh world for a woman without wealth or status. She faces yet another life-changing twist when she learns her only chance of survival depends on the very thing she has tried to avoid her whole life—marriage. As if that isn’t bad enough, she must betroth herself to none other than the most powerful duke in all of England, the notorious and feared Lord William Blackwell.

But…what begins as a fight for her life might just become a chance to find true love.

**Trapped in Time is the first book in the Time Travel Romance series and can be read as a standalone novel. The second book in the Time Travel Romance series, A Modern Lady Lost in Time, is coming out in March. It follows Isabella, a Victorian lady from one of England's finest houses, who finds herself waking up in the streets of Philly in the 21st century. How is all of this connected? We shall see...**

Can we just take a second to appreciate the beauty of this book cover? It’s simple, yet you still can’t take your eyes off of it. Maybe it’s the dress, or the title font, or the girl sipping tea, whatever it is, we like it! Now onto the actual book.Emma didn’t have the best childhood, and she worked hard to get where she was, but something was missing. When a bump to the head sends her back in time to Victorian England, she must use all the tricks she promised herself she would never stoop to, to survive.I love a good historical romance. I love a good time travel story. I am a huge fan of Diana Gabaldon and Jude Devearux, but this one just fell flat for me. The best thing about the authors I previously mentioned is they suck you into this world they’ve created with their details and descriptions of the land our heroes or heroines find themselves in. That is where Denise Daye missed the mark. There was a lot of dialogue, and very little location description. When I read a book, the way the author narrates locations and people, sets my imagination up so that instead of reading words on a page, I am transported and watching a movie play out with the most vivid and amazing characters and locations, telling us that Emma found herself in what she thought was Victorian England really did not do that for me, sorry Denise. It is with deep regret I say, put this one down and walk away.

Trapped in time took me by surprise. I am a huge fan of time travel romance, and this one hit it out of the park. Emma, a young woman back in school to further her education in medicine, finds herself thrust back to 1881 London. Desperate to get back to her own time, she and her new friend Lily, a prostitute who saved her from a mugging, devise a plan to place her in one of the most powerful homes in England. To find safety and the freedom she will need to research how to get home, she will have to marry. And marry well.
But things don't go as planned, and Emma's heart soon becomes entangled with John Evergreen and his family.
Intent on marrying William Blackwell, Emma pulls out all her wiles and 21st century knowledge to try and stay a step ahead of the complicated game of society.
Filled with heart, history, and twists that keep the tension high and the intrigue vibrant on the page, Trapped in Time is a brilliant example of a true romance. I found myself captivated and engaged through every page.
The author writes with passion and skill, bringing her characters to life and the world Emma must learn to navigate out of the pages and into the reader's heart.
Brilliant work! I hope she writes may more.

After reading "Time and Again" back in the 1970's I became hooked on Time Travel stories. Trapped in Time by Denise Daye intrigued me because like Denise I am a social worker with degrees from the Ivy League - Columbia School of Social Work 1998. I wanted to read a book about time travel by someone who shared so much in common with me. Denise's social work values did shine through and her strong research skills are apparent though I was disappointed she didn't go further into the differences between 1881 and 2020 pharmaceuticals and archeology - both of which she touched upon - plus Tesla's discoveries and other fascinating characters of the time. Instead, Trapped In Time is another time travel romance written largely in modern narrative. The lead character, Emma, a 21st century woman working towards her PhD in chemistry, suddenly finds herself in Victorian London after being hit by a car in 2020. Faye suggests Emma's transport to 1881 has something to do with a Victorian coin Emma picked up just before she was hit by the car. But this cause is never flushed out - maybe in the next book? Also, Emma continues to speak and behave as if she were still in the 21st century. She engages in premarital sex, swears and declines male protection. The 19th century characters, from prostitutes to Lords, often drop their Victorian British language and assume the 21st century lingo without explanation. I wish Daye had made an effort to do the research here as it's annoying. But these complaints are only my personal disappointments. Daye has succeeded in what she set out to do - she has written a good time travel romance. Too bad for me I prefer more detailed time travel books without the romance. 4 stars for time travel, a nice romance, her attention to the squalor in which most people were forced to live in 1881 and the limitations of medicine and, especially, the limited options to women compared to today. I'm grateful I live in the 21st century where women have made some progress in achieving equality. Thanks Denise Daye. It's hard to write a book ever and especially hard while caring for your baby. You did what you set out to do.

4 1/2 stars. This was a lovely romance but also an interesting time travel story. Emma was a PhD student studying to be a pharmacist so when she found herself in 1881 she knew about medicine. Lily and Skip were kind and interesting friends that helped her, and John was the gentleman she fell in love with. John was a great character, too! My only qualm about the story was that the hero was too good to be true and the villain was too evil to be real. But I could be wrong about this because there were reasons behind the actions. I really liked John even though he was too perfect! I want to read more from this author. I wanted to read more of this story, but it did end in a good spot.

It wasn't terrible, but I skimmed at the end ready for it to be over. Was interesting at first, but got kind of boring towards the end. Definitely won't be buying another from this author. I know its about time travel, but quite a few things were not really believable in certain character action. Glad it's over...lol

I'm thoroughly enjoying my binge reading about timetravel at the moment, and this book kept me enthralled from beginning to end, as well as invested in the characters Emma, Lily and John. The meet-cute was a clever little twist. Emma's whole back-story was interesting, but I loved the intrigue surrounding William, which for me was the highlight. John is the perfect hero, gentleman and all-round good guy. I may have swooned a little on several occasions.

I found this time travel book very interesting & moving with how the poor girl--after landing unexpectedly into another century--out of sheer desperation forced herself to marry someone she loathed in order to get out of one situation as she was deep diving into another crazy situation! Ugh! Some people don't seem to learn! At any rate & without giving too much of the story away, it was certainly entertaining, thank you!
