When God's Story Becomes Your Story Paperback – October 15, 2011

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 499 ratings

Note: This is a booklet of 48 pages which has only two Chapters.

Life is sometimes full of blocked entrances and locked doors. You have hopes and dreams, but the path to them is often cluttered with obstacles. Seasons of life arrive that are hard to explain. In Romans 8:28, Paul writes, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” When God’s story becomes yours, closed doors take on new meaning. God owns the key to every door and will use the one He locks to draw you closer and advance His cause. Your life is a narrative, written by a holy God, who is working toward your supreme good. Max encourages you to embrace life knowing that whatever happens, God is always with you and for you.

Max Lucado is a pastor, speaker, and bestselling author who, in his own words, “writes books for people who don’t read books.” He serves the people of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas, and his message is for the hurting, the guilty, the lonely, and the discouraged: God loves you; let him.

Max is known for combining poetic storytelling and homespun humor with the heart of a pastor. All of his trade books began as sermon series at Oak Hills Church, and his sermons all begin with Max asking himself this question: “What can I say on Sunday that will still matter on Monday?” He’s been dubbed “America’s Pastor” by Christianity Today, and “The Best Preacher in America” by Reader’s Digest.

Max’s books have sold more than 150 million copies in over 50 languages worldwide. He published On the Anvil, his first trade book, in 1985. His 46th trade book, What Happens Next, was released in August 2024. Max’s books regularly appear on bestseller lists, including The New York Times. His writing has also been featured in Bible studies, Bible commentaries, songs, greeting cards, and even plush toys. He is the recipient of many book awards and received the 2021 ECPA Pinnacle Award for his outstanding contribution to the publishing industry.

Max and his wife Denalyn live in San Antonio, Texas. They have three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and four grandchildren.

This book takes only a few minutes to read, but it's filled with wisdom presented in the clear, easy-to-understand form that is found in Max Lucado's works. As a person in her 70's, I found it filled with numerous passages that warranted highlights. This book can be helpful to those who question who God is and what He's all about, and it's just as valuable to those like me who are lifelong believers but still find ourselves asking, "Why?"

This book had a very nice message. God always has a purpose in our lives. He molds us and prepares us to do His will. I liked this book because it has a nice message for everyone, no matter what they are going through. I recommend this book to everyone who might be going through a difficult time in their lives. Or someone about to give up. Remember Jesus will never give up on us. He will be there every step of the way. We might not see or feel Him. But He is right there. You will be victorious if you save everything in Gods hands. God gave Job in the bible many trials. Took away what he loved the most. But he never lost faith. God gave him the victory. Jesus loves you, Gatsby He died for you on the cross. God bless you.

As I read this book, it opened the eyes of my soul and heart that God has already written our story and we only need to allow Him to unfold His story in my life. It reminds me to learn to be obedience to Him always. I need not to struggle on my own to write my own story. All that I need is to come to Him, to draw near to Him and submit to Him. Only in His presence, do I find my rest.

An excellent read and I will strongly encourage others to read it!

Almighty God is still in control of everything. He knows how to take good things and make them better but more importantly He know how to take the hurts, aches, and pains of this life and turn them into His perfect plan for our lives. Sometimes we don't see it, but He's there. At each turn, each intersection of our lives He's there. We just need to be reassured that He has our best interest at heart. How do we know? He sent His only son, Jesus, to show us just how much He loves us. A great reminder to those who don't and those that do place their faith in the one true God.

Well known writer - who explains clearly and interestingly the Christian Way. He has examples of unique and helpful examples in all his work - often used by other preachers in focussing on their sermons. Great value and a helpful and challenging message.

I can strongly recommend the book and author to prospective purchasers.

Max Lucado is a great writer...full of knowledge and insight. This wee book is great. It's short and too the point. Filled with a biblical perspective as well as personal illustrations to show us that we are integral to God and HIs Story.

Not very long but the meaning behind the story was ok.Suffering is the christian way and being humble about your suffering is God's way.Sometimes praying for things to get better is very hard when things are at there worst.Seeing someone suffer so much and god does not answer is the hardest .Hard to deal with.Gods plan is Gods plan and that is that.To be a good christian is no easy path to walk, the closer you get to God the more challenges you will face .You have to have your life turned upside down and shook about for you to understand the meaning and the sacrifice Jesus made.Look at Job he suffered and lost everything .A devout christian.
