Medicine Woman Paperback – Illustrated, November 16, 2006
Purchase options and add-ons
Join her as she is initiated into the Sisterhood and creates her own shield, which will show her the nature of her spiritual path (Spirit Woman). Follow her to the Yucatan, where the medicine wheel leads her, and she is faced with the terrifying reality of the butterfly tree (Jaguar Woman). Enter the Dreamtime with her, where she emerges in medieval England as Catherine, and encounters the Grandmother, who offers to show Andrews how to make her life one of goodness, power, adventure, and love (The Woman of Wyrrd).
Not all these stories describe the author's own spiritual experiences. Meet Sin Coraz?n, an initiate into the Sisterhood, whose husband abandons her. She nearly succumbs to her inner dark power and unleashes her rage on men and the Sisterhood (Dark Sister). Andrews also writes about the elder women of the Sisterhood: their loves, their lives, their losses (Tree of Dreams).
Andrews shows us how to channel our own spiritual and intellectual energy and balance the need for love with the desire for power (Love and Power). She takes the reader on numerous spiritual journeys that inevitably uplift.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 19, 2024This book holds so much power for women.to realize you can do more then you think. We have been trained to believe we are the weaker person because we are women but in this book you will see just how much strength you have

- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2013I started reading Lynn's books 10 years ago, but this wasn't the one I read first. I was glad to finally get my hands on it and learn the beginning of Lynn's journey. While some think it may create a better timeline for the reader to read these books in order, I don't think that's necessary. Lynn's books feed my soul and spirit, and make them feel whole and fed. I have learned to set aside cultural differences, and not pick apart a story because a certain people don't typically do or believe in one thing or another. I have learned to use spiritual ideas that work for your own spirit, no matter the culture or context, because these things have meaning to YOU. I look forward to reading more of Lynn's work, and to rereading this book in the future! ~blessings
- Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2008I was told to read Lynn Andrews' books because of dreams I myself have had.
Despite the reviews that claim this is a work of fiction, I feel compelled to say that there is real wisdom here and I highly doubt this is fiction. There is just too much here that is incontrovertibly true. Also, Ms. Andrews describes encounters with Hyemeyohsts Storm, who is a very well known author and teacher. I do not for one second believe that he would allow his name to be involved in work that was not genuine.
I highly recommend this book to any woman who is fearless enough to make her own way in the world.
And to any man who is strong enough to be open to women who know their true power.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2015Very fun and different. More of the inside of the mystery of Indian lore that I'm after. Andrews has school and if I was in another situation I would love to attend. I would have liked to know the herbs they were smoking though, and more detail on the marriage basket once she found it. Was it made of the material she expected, what was inside, could it even be opened, and what happened when you opened it? I look forward to reading more of her books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Medicine Woman
The first book I've read by Lynn Andrews and I loved it. What a brave and naive women Lynn was on this adventure. I felt empowered by her story to dare to look further in to the shadows of myself and embrace my femininityb

1.0 out of 5 stars New Age Fraud - I feel this is totally fake
im a bit sad about having bought this book. my gut feeling told me that this is a fake after the first couple of pages and then i did some research online and it seems like my gut feeling is true. i just did not enjoy reading this book. it seemed to be so superficial. there is no wisdom in it. i dont understand the 5 star reviews, but then we are all in different jurneys and what might help some is completely useless to others. i would like to point out that im not a general sceptic. i love authors like don miguel ruiz, carlos castaneda, jamie sams, luisa francia. i do work with spirits and feel quite in tune with the spirit world and my intuition just told me this book by Lynn V. Andrews is a compleate hoax.
Also, sorry to get personal, but looking at her, she seems to be facelifted and stuck in hollywood, not very in tune with nature. Which is fine, it's her life, and i feel compassion for her pain, but this is certainly not my path and i can not see her as a role model or a person ful of wisdom. I regret having spent money on 3 books because they were on a book recommendation list for a shaman training course.
