Visually Alive, Easy to Read Commentary
Life magazine was a giant in photojournalism from the 1930's to the 1990's and its reputation and readability guaranteed big sales in book publications. The best reason for owning this book is its large size, 13.75 x 10.5 inches and is doubled with page fold outs. The photos and illustrations are a feast for the eyes that trace the emergence of the human race and the civilizations of Sumer, Indus Valley, ancient Egypt, Crete, the Etruscans, the European Celts, the Shang Chinese, the Maya of the New World and the Inca of the Andes. Stone Age cultures today are also look at. Although the archeology and anthropology is dated (1961) the illustrations and photos are still attention getting.
