Crossing the Line (Crossings Book 1) Kindle Edition
Alex Thatcher is just settling in to her new life in Southern Arizona and her dream job as a Border Patrol agent. She is working with a respected mentor (and a newbie who is fun to boss around), learning her way around the desert, and even making some friends. But when Alex observes something unusual while out on patrol, she and her colleagues must work with law enforcement agencies and the medical examiner's office to investigate a series of homicides. Fascinating and suspenseful, 'Crossing the Line' captures the complexity and ambiguity of the borderlands.

Crossing the Line is a murder mystery which explores some of the complex issues facing undocumented border crossers in southern Arizona. The author brings clear experience to the novel. The detailed descriptions of the Tucson Medical Examiners Office, Sonora Desert, and medical procedures in forensic anthropology are all impressive. The prologue creates suspense, several red herrings maintain interest in the plot, and the epilogue leaves the reader with something to consider. Fun read.

Great 1st story for what could be the start of a series. Clear and in depth look into the people and institutions that are involved in this line of work. Nice to read about an area of the country often left out of the Hollywood limelight and other mainstream stories.

Great plot line that kept me on my toes. Author did a stellar job developing the characters. A couple typos here or there but easy to read through. I highly recommend this novel. Can't wait for the next book.
