- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2014this book is written about my great uncle...I have, in years past as a child, had many conversations with my great uncle regarding his exploits in the U. S. Navy...after I did my 20 years it was important to me to get all the books that he wrote as well as those written about him...this book does a great job of letting you know what was going on on both sides prior to the capture, during the capture and after the war.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2018So much more that a history of U-505 this book provides background on the U-Boat war from both Allied and German viewpoints. The photos are outstanding. I saw the U-505 at the Museum when it was outside so need to plan a trip back to see inside the exhibit.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2010We saw the sub at the MSI and was a great to see it in person, so you can feel like you we part of it, what they went throu and how they live,
We did not buy the book why there and my husband wanted it so looking for it Amazon.com was the only site we found that had the book we wanted. U 505 was a great book for everyone...........
- Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2013Enjoyed this book. Enjoyed learning all about the submarine and how it was captured. Visited the museum in Chicago but did not have enough time to fully appreciate the whole story behind this submarine, so having the book was very beneficial to filling in the gaps.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 5, 2019I was through the U-505 in the early 70s when it was still outside. The $2 booklet from the museum is still floating around somewhere in the bookshelves so I had a basic idea of the capture story. This book is so much more. It has a little bit of background on the war, the battle of the Atlantic, the weapons systems used (both sides), as well as the capture & disposition of the sub since. Printed well on good paper.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 25, 2018Great History of the U-505 and getting it o Chicago. I have see it many times, starting in the early 1960's
- Reviewed in the United States on October 11, 2019Love this book seen the sub love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2018A lot of history about both the boat and the ASW task force.
