About the author
Born in Torquay in 1890, Agatha Christie began writing during the First World War and wrote over 100 novels, plays and short story collections. She was still writing to great acclaim until her death, and her books have now sold over a billion copies in English and another billion in over 100 foreign languages. Yet Agatha Christie was always a very private person, and though Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple became household names, the Queen of Crime was a complete enigma to all but her closest friends.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2023The last Miss Marple mystery is terrific. It is spooky, mystifying, and well laid out. It’s the story about a newly married couple who have bought a house in the English countryside. Gwenda feels right from the first moment that she is “home” in the house. When she experiences a frightning “vision” of a dead body in the house, and then later hears a famous quote that stirs memories, she is terrified that the place is haunted.
She and Giles, with the eventual help of the nosey, clever, Miss Marple, dig to discover the mystery. Who was the dead body Gwenda saw? What happened to it? Repeatedly Miss Marple and others tell them to “let sleeping murders lie” and leave it alone. It could be dangerous. They may learn something they wish they hadn’t. But the couple can’t seem to do that.
The death (murder?) is closer to Gwenda than she thinks, although it happened 19 years earlier. It tragically affects her entire family. Yes, they should have left it alone, for there are other deaths, and eventually the terrible knowledge of the truth.
I was positive that I knew who committed the crime (and why) at the 2/3 point in the story (Why didn’t Miss Marple SEE it?) But alas, as in all the Agatha Christie mysteries, I was wrong. Really wrong.
It’s sad to think that this was the last Miss Marple mystery that Agatha Christie wrote. It was actually published posthumously after her death. Well, Marple’s last case is a hum-dinger!
I thoroughly enjoyed Stephanie Cole’s narration as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2024I loved this book even though I've seen every TV version of it imaginable! Great characters and better details than the TV series. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 25, 2013I love the Christie mysteries, especially those of Miss Marple. If you haven't read this one, then by all means you should do so. It is a good mystery, well plotted and fun to read. I am rating it 4 stars because Miss Marple spends a great deal of the book on the sidelines. The other characters are interesting, but I wanted to see them with Marple, not on their own.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2024Miss Marple doesn't give away anything, but encourages the reader to think about events from more than one point of view. Very satisfying.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2024This kindle e-book is from Kindle Unlimited account book four.
Miss Marple get involved in a twenty year old murder. A young woman and husband move into town. They buy her parents house and the fun begins. The truth all come out leading to an arrest.
I would recommend this novel and author to fans of Agatha Christie and Miss Marple. 2024
- Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2024Excellent story. Different from other Agatha Christie 'whodunits', you'll love the twists and turn of this plot. Enough Miss Marple to make it a true Miss Marple novel! The setting is great and the characters are well written. One of Agatha's best.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2024Item arrived on time and intact and was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2024Miss Maple plays rather a background role in this one and it is also the first, thus far the only, one where I not only figured it out but figured it out fairly early on. While this one is classic Christie with many of the elements in place it is also definitely not peak Christie.
Plot...a man and wife buy a home where a murder was committed. The case is 18 years cold but still pretty straightforward. Still the couple must find the killer without being killed...

Christie em uma das melhores obras, reviravoltas em um crime passado quase 20 anos. Psicologia e suspense até o final, recomendo!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Her Best!
Not a fan of Poirot but I love Miss Marple & this is my favourite, I think!
The whole plot is wonderful & the way the story unfolds - it keeps you hooked. But the ending & the explanation are just another level!
If you love murder mysteries, you can't miss this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Immer noch spannend!
