This is a very well written book that describes the meditative process in detail. You may like to read more about mindfulness meditation, in which case I recommend ASIN:1432736884 The Path of Mindfulness Meditation

This is an extraordinary book about what happens in the minds of meditators. It describes clearly and accurately important feelings and thought processes that occur during meditative states. Like no one I have read before, the clarity and accuracy of mental events during meditative states are described in detail by someone who is evidently intimately familiar with such states. It helps readers understand what its happening in their minds. It is a must read for those who are inquiring into Tibetan Buddhism, Krishnamurti, Vernon Howard and other Masters.
