A robot searching for purpose. A woman who brings him to life. Can they learn to love in a broken world?

With his core programming lost to time, Ronin has wandered the Dust for nearly two centuries. Out in that unforgiving wasteland, his armored undercasing, advanced optics, and amped-up processors give him an advantage over other scavengers. He’s resigned himself to this unending trek until one night—until one human—makes him question everything.

Lara Brooks and her sister have spent their lives struggling to survive under the tyrannical rule of Cheyenne’s robotic master, Warlord. But when her sister goes missing, Lara has no one to turn to, no one willing to help her. She’s utterly alone. Her only hope comes from a bot she catches spying on her.

Ronin agrees to protect Lara and find her sister. All she must do in return is dance for him.

The transaction should be simple. Lara’s danced for bots before. Yet the more time they spend together, the harder it becomes for her to see him as nothing but a collection of circuits and machinery.

And Ronin soon finds it difficult to deny what shouldn’t be possible…

She makes him
feel.

But if Ronin defies Cheyenne’s rules to pursue his growing desires, he risks exposing Lara to a danger far greater than any found in the unforgiving wasteland—Warlord’s wrath.

I've read a few books from this duo and they were all well written, complex and exciting. I have been wanting to read this for a while and finally got to it, and I'm not disappointed in the least. I spend most of my time reading and I've read this kind of "post end of times" story many times, but Dustwalker feels fresh and took me on an emotional journey. One that I haven't felt from a book in a long time. Definitely worth the read but be ready for the epilogue because it was sure a curveball I wasn't expecting.

4 1/2 stars. Would recommend for those who enjoy post apocalyptic romance. Dual point of view between human FMC and synthetic AI MMC. Their voices were distinct and made for an enjoyable read. The epilogue made tears come to my eyes. I always say if a book makes me feel a strong emotion, the author has done their job well. So many books of this genre are forgettable, this one stands apart.

The first time I read this book was via audiobook on Hoopla. I binged it in 2 days. It was absolutely wonderful. So much so that I had the urge to read it again. So here I am writing this review to say this book could be made into a netflix special, and it would be a hit.

This author never fails to disappoint. I was crying fat ugly tears by the end. The characters evolved together organically and with very real depth. The story was intriguing and unique and the plot points weren’t forced or corny. The spice was spicy but also had very real emotion. The ending…is now added to my top favorite epilogues. I haven’t cried so hard since the fever series and dancers death IYKYK. even though kehtan and ivy will ALWAYS be this authors best series/story EVER, lol, this book is now a close second for me.

I set out to read a story as dirty as the Dust but received much more than I bargained for. I will admit that I had the bar set pretty low for this book in terms of expectations. I thought this would be a simple dystopian fantasy where one of the main characters is a robot. It is that, but it is also so much more. The writing in this story is simply incredible. The conversations between the two main characters in the first half of the book were great. I liked the thoughts on humanity, living and evolving as a person.

The book started to lose me at about the halfway point. There is a whole second half conflict that I wasn’t a huge fan of. I’d dare say this robot romance took an unbelievable turn, but that seems silly given what this story is. I also didn’t like the FMC Lara even a little bit. At the beginning she was OK and I enjoyed how she could find beauty in all the broken pieces she would salvage. She quickly lost me though with her constant mood swings and need to lash out.

I seriously did. This story is definitely one of the more touching ones I've read. It's a great story of finding love in unlikely places and loving someone not in spite of but because of their differences.
I would love to read this book again for the first time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Action, drama, romance in a robot apocalypse
Reviewed in Canada on August 12, 2023
Well paced story with a great robot male lead. Some hard to read bits, it is the apocalypse after all, but also plenty of sexy intimacy. Honestly, surprisingly good writing on Kindle Unlimited. I will follow this writing couple from now on.

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful story

I was expecting love but I was not prepared for the amount of it that I am feeling as I just finished this book. It was a long walk for this Dustwalker and a beautiful journey.
These authors are amazing at delivering wonderful stories full of deep characters, developments, and struggles to conquest.
I fully recommend this book. It had some triggers for me but they were talked and handled with care, so I don't feel bad at all for reading them. In all, this is an amazing story. I'll buy the book after reading through Kindle Unlimited to support them (and because I want to re-read this later!).
