The Ancient Alien Question, 10th Anniversary Edition: An Inquiry Into the Existence, Evidence, and Influence of Ancient Visitors Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 785 ratings

“ . . . an important and outstanding contribution.” —Erich von Däniken, bestselling author of Chariots of the Gods

“The Ancient Alien Question provides a captivating adventure around the world and sheds an interesting perspective on the Ancient Astronaut Theory.” —Giorgio A. Tsoukalos, producer of Ancient Aliens: The Series

“Philip Coppens covers all the bases on this controversial topic. His research is thorough and he addresses each topic with a balanced overview that cuts through the jungle of confusion with a very sharp machete of reason.” —David Hatcher Childress, author of Technology of the Gods

The Ancient Alien Question reveals an array of astonishing truths, including:

  • A radically different understanding of the pyramids and how they were constructed
  • The extraordinary stories behind monuments such as the Nazca lines and Puma Punku
  • How extraterrestrials came to our planet and the evidence that supports this

Analyzing the historical and archaeological evidence, Philip Coppens demonstrates that there is substantial proof that our ancestors were far more technologically advanced than currently accepted, and that certain cultures interacted with nonhuman intelligences. Our ancestors were clearly not alone.

Fifty years after Erich von Däniken posed these questions in Chariots of the Gods, Coppens provides clear, concise answers to the great historical enigmas in an accessible, readable format.

Your view of human history will never be the same again!

Kathleen McGowan from the Preface

Early on in our relationship he began calling me “Scully” after the skeptical redheaded character in the X-Files. I had encountered any number of believers in my time, and although I tried to keep an open mind, it was always just a step too far into the outer limits for me. But I discovered quickly that my cynicism about the Ancient Alien theory was powerless against the force that was Philip Coppens.

I want to be clear that he never tried to convert me to his beliefs; that was not his way. Philip was passionate but he was not a fanatic. He was measured and careful, laying out his arguments in the most balanced, sane manner. He appeared to have access to unlimited data in his brain and the ability to create persuasive arguments on the spot. I have never known a mind like that, before or since.

Philip Coppens demonstrates there is substantial proof that our ancestors were far more technologically advanced than is accepted, and certain cultures interacted with nonhuman intelligences.

THE GREAT PYRAMID

So is there no mystery to the Great Pyramid? Actually, there is. The evidence suggests that though Khufu was responsible for its construction, he had at his disposal technology and information that official archaeology does not credit the Ancient Egyptians with. It is technology that was millennia ahead of its time, helping to build the pyramid with an accuracy that defies modern standards. The Great Pyramid has been measured in extraordinary detail, which has revealed how purposefully very thing to do with this pyramid was executed.

ORION NEBULA

The most obvious comparison, however, is that the layouts of the three pyramids at Giza and the three main structures of Teotihuacán represent the Belt of Orion. The Pyramid of the Moon compares with the smallest pyramid on the plateau; the Pyramid of the Sun compares with Khafre’s pyramid; and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, which has the largest ground plan but was never built into a full pyramid, compares with that of the Great Pyramid. Though there are individual differences, I would suggest that the same ingredients were used at both sites, answering to the same general ground plan: to represent the Belt of Orion, which in ancient Egypt was linked with their mythology and in the Mayan culture was part of the creation mythology.

BAALBEK

It is the megalithic ruins between the temple that have attracted speculation as to how our ancestors could have created Baalbek. Most interesting is the stone platform on which the Romans built the Temple of Jupiter. Its walls consist of about 24 monoliths at their lowest level, each weighing 300 tons. There is a trilithon (a grouping of three blocks, two vertical with a horizontal block atop them) in the southwest wall of the platform, known as the “Marvel of the Three Stones,” each more than 62 feet high and weighing an estimated 800 tons! A fourth stone nearby is 80 feet in length and weighs 1,100 tons!

John Anthony West's revolutionary reinterpretation of the civilization of Egypt challenges all that has been accepted as dogma concerning Ancient Egypt. Bestselling author and father of the Ancient Alien Theory Erich von Däniken explores what drove ancient humans to build city-sized places underground around the world and its connection to conflicts in the sky.

The Ancient Alien Question: A New Inquiry Into the Existence, Evidence, and Influence of Ancient Visitors, By Phillip Coppens
Kindle Edition (320 Pages)

Phillip Coppens has offered an in-depth analysis of the theory that Earth was visited in ancient past by extraterrestrials in the ancient past, and influnced the course of human civilization. It is focused on providing information and where possible factual evidence that can help resolve some of the profound questions raised by the Ancient Alien Theory.

In his 1968 book, Chariots of the Gods, Swiss author Erich von Däniken proposed that all of the evidence pointed to one profound but logical possibility: extraterrestrials visited Earth in the distant past and changed the course of human history. This concept, later referred to as "Ancient Astronaut Theory or alternatively "Ancient Alien Theory" is embraced today by millions of people around the world. But despite media and public interest, the phrase ancient aliens remains taboo within the scientific and religious disciplines. Whether or not we were alone in the human adventure that was early civilization is a question that these disciplines will not answered, or even addressed. The author suggests various reasons for why this is so, the most logical of which is that substantiation of an extraterrestrials presence in humanity's ancient past would shatter the ideology and doctrinal tenants of science and religion.

What is the evidence? Across the Earth, ancient ruins and megalithic structures such as Sacsayhuamán in Peru, the Temple of Jupiter in Lebanon, or Gobekli Tepe in Turkey are proven to be far older than what our modern history books are willing to admit. In fact, the incredible megalithic site of Gobekli Tepe, located in the Southeastern Anatolia Region of Turkey, is radiocarbon dated at over 11,000 years old. Meanwhile, further to the west in Baalbek, Lebanon, the ancient city of Heliopolis and the Temple of Jupiter contain enormous stone blocks that are in excess of 1,000 tons each. Yet at the same time, most mainstream experts will tell you that these megalithic sites were built less than 5,000 years ago by the Romans, or some nomadic hunter-gatherer group, using nothing more than bronze-age tools. There are passages in the Bible that mention the presence of alien life and extraterrestrial intervention; the alien creation of man; prophetic visions that are clearly the technology of UFOs; and much more. This evidence greatly contradicts what society is taught about the timeline of human history and helps to paint a far different picture of our past. The most important question is, why isn’t this important information part of our education system? From the secret tunnels found beneath the pyramids of Giza and the water erosion marks on the Sphinx Enclosure, to the knowledge of mathematics and astronomy developed by the early Sumerian Civilization of Mesopotamia, around the world, we find compelling evidence that suggests that human civilizations are far older and more sophisticated than what we’ve been told. This brings up serious questions as to why this important evidence still remains unknown to most of society. To answer that difficult question, we must objectively review this evidence, and the secrets of ancient history. There is a great deal more evidence provided by Mr. Coppens, but you must read the book to discover what he has to say! However, in the final analysis it seems clear that Coppens believes, just as I do, that we are not alone. This book delivers an interesting, straightforward narrative that is easy to read and readily comprehensible. It is well researched and carefully documented to ensure accuracy of the evidence provided. The evidence is very substantive and quite extraordinary. I enjoyed this book very much and believe that readers who approach it with an open mind will also appreciate this book.

In the beginning......................
Philip Coppens' The Ancient Alien Question is an excellent, informative compendium of possible alien theories, factual historical anomalies, and other unexplained esoterica concerning our very hazy ancient human beginnings. Like the popular and entertaining Ripley's Believe it or Not, Mr. Coppens unbiasedly presents the mysterious facts for the reader to discern the truth. The truth is out there if we can just find and understand it.
The enigmatic question concerning the "Ancient Ones" revolves around if yes then who, and if who then from where, and most importantly of all Why? Mr. Coppens does a fine job of answering the yes, but it's the who, where, and why that is confounding. The supposition that possibly ancient aliens are really interdimensional beings/entities that can be reached through the ingesting of certain arcane chemicals is a little disconcerting to say the least. Whether Mr. Coppens truly believes this is irrelevant as he is just reporting the investigation.
Most of the ground covered by Mr. Coppens is a rehash of prior information, but in several cases he does introduce some new hypothesizes. I particularly enjoyed Joseph Davidovits' theory on how the Great Pyramids were constructed through the process of geopolymerization. Unfortunately, because his thesis does not coincide with Egyptologist fundamentalists dogma it is dismissed out of hand even though the proof is overwhelming.
All in all Mr. Coppens' work is an excellent basic primer for the beginning seeker of the age old question Are We Alone? Mr. Coppens expands on this age old question by further asking if not, have we been, or are we now being, visited by aliens? He does get a little far afield when discussing interdimensional entities, but for Ancient Alien Question completeness it does helps round out the mystery. Belief is in the mind's eye of the beholder, which I think Hamlet alluded to best, "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." Are we alone, NO, but have we been contacted? That is for each of us to determine and in this respect Philip Coppens greatly adds to the growing discussion. The author does a fine job of putting together both perspective and theoretical understanding concerning mysterious events and seemingly impossible reality.
Solid recommend.
*Note: I have personally visited many of the geographical sites Mr. Coppens writes about and can attest to their mysterious provocativeness and enigmatic nature: Answers are few, theories are many, truth is so far basically unknown.

Ancient Alien Theory. Well written. Looked at perhaps a bit more scientifically. Answers questions from a balanced perspective. If you are interested in this subject then this is a book for you.
Reviewed in the United States on November 1, 2011
Philip Coppens is a student of Grail lore, and as such he knows that it is the importance of the question - and never being afraid to ask it, no matter what the consequences- that defines the search for truth. And ask he does. For those familiar with the hit History Channel series, Ancient Aliens, Philip's will be a familiar name and face. With this book, The Ancient Alien Question, we finally have the opportunity to see into his research and perspectives in real depth. He has walked this path of exploration for most of his adult life, probing for answers from Giza to Cuzco and many places in between. He is a field researcher and a true investigator, and these conclusions are his own. He will undoubtedly be compared to Erich Von Daniken, who pioneered the quest to bring these questions to light and into the public awareness, and indeed Erich writes the introduction to the book. But it is clear that Philip Coppens is making his own way and his own name with his work. Some of his conclusions are perhaps surprising and controversial - Coppens doesn't accept a number of commonly held theories or beliefs about ancient aliens. Although his ultimate answer to the question is YES, it is clear that Coppens approaches his subject as neither a believer nor a skeptic, but as a true seeker of the truth.

Keep asking those questions, and keep searching for your own answers - but as you search, this is a great guidebook to assist you in your exploration. And as an added bonus, it's beautiful to look at in terms of the interior page design, making it even more of a pleasure to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Truth simply is, whether you believe it or not."

There are too many things on this planet, starting with life itself, that cannot be explained entirely in a satisfactory way, and although it is Science to which I tend to turn first, I am aware of its limitations. I also do want to believe. As a child and later, I discovered and devoured the works of Erich von Däniken and Zecharia Sitchin among others.

Later, I began doubting many of their claims; I wanted to believe, but not unreasonably.

Philip Coppens took all the aspects of the Ancient Astronaut Theory and analyzed them with the mind set that I would have done it with. Skeptical enough and enough of a believer, he wrote a book that brought me all that reason that I was looking for. It feels like home.

"Though we no longer believe the world originated in 4004 BC, what science and archaeology have done is to place the origins of civilization at that moment in time, and argue that anything before then cannot be validated by science, and hence by default is believed not to be true. However, truth simply is, whether you believe it or not."

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Better Books on Ancient Alien Theory
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on July 26, 2013
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Not only was the late Filip Coppens a talented author and researcher, he inspired a new generation of believers (I include myself here) as a contributor to the Ancient Aliens TV Show.

Filip Coppens' The Ancient Alien Question is a well thought out, well written book that in some ways reminded me of a more modern, colourful version of Erich Von Daniken's classic; Chariot of the Gods. Like many, I was first introduced to Coppen's style of research through the Ancient Aliens program by the History Channel. I personally identified with him more than some of the other contributors because of his reluctance to simply believe everything without first checking it out. As you might imagine this transfers over really well into The Ancient Alien Question.

Everything from the Nasca lines to Puma Punku and the Giza Pyramids are covered. What surprised me about the book however was that Coppens challenges at least one of Sitchin's (Zecharia) claims, and also brings new evidence forth to suggest that the Dogan (who many now claim possess information about the solar system which they should never have had except through ET intelligence) actually possess no such knowledge. Since Sitchin's work was what got me into reading extra-terrestrial themed books in later years, and for awhile i had believed in his work sincerely, seeing Coppens expose the late scholar was both interesting and slightly disheartening. Then again, truth is truth and in this subject, it is of extreme importance that truth be not treated flippantly since we are at odds with an entire public whose only exposure to the UFO phenomena is the "the little green men" that silly news channels and news papers laugh off, much to their detriment.

All in all a fascinating book. If you found the topics in the Ancient Aliens TV program interesting and like your UFO/Alien books properly researched, this is for you.
