Interview with the authors
Q: So, what makes the Warpworld series so special?
A: (Kristene) Josh and I come from very different backgrounds and live in contrasting environments—rainforest and desert—and it seemed only natural to write an adventure science fiction series that brought together contrasting worlds and characters. Two authors, two worlds, two heroes.
A: (Joshua) A world covered in water is as alien to Seg as a rainforest is to me. Toss in big discrepancies in culture and technological development and you have a recipe for conflict.
A: (Kristene) And romance!
Q: Is there a reading order to the series?
A: (Joshua) Yes. Warpworld is a five-book saga and should be read in chronological order.
Warpworld
Wasteland Renegades
Ghost World
Final Storm
And…to be announced!
A: (Kristene) We are also adding shadow stories as we go. I’d recommend reading Unity Tested after the first book (Warpworld) and Place of Others after Ghost World.
Q: Why should readers give these books a try?
A: (Kristene) Because they’re amazing! But, seriously, this is a series that covers a lot of ground—figuratively and literally. You’ll find Game of Thrones style Machiavellian politics, a Mad Max level female hero, a Dances With Wolves kind of romance, and some Marco Polo exploration. Oh, and let’s not forget a mysterious supernatural Storm that threatens to eat an entire world.
A: (Joshua)Ama, our female hero, is a reader favourite. If you like kick-ass female characters, you won’t be disappointed. Warpworld is as much a women’s adventure series as anything else.
Q: What about readers who aren’t sure they want to commit to five books?
A: (Joshua) That’s why we’ve made the first Kindle book in the series free. Try it out, see if you like it. We think you will.

"These characters, and for me especially Ama, just demanded my attention, never let it go, and never let me down for sticking with them." -- Nathaniel Green, author of Language of the Bear and Out of the Fire
From the Back Cover
Fiery and headstrong, Ama receives an ultimatum from her people's tyrannical overlords: betray her own kind or give up the boat she calls home, forever. When a wealthy traveler hires her as a guide, Ama thinks her prayers are answered - until a violent murder reveals Seg's true identity.
On the run, over land and water, hunted by a ruthless and relentless tracker, and caught in the schemes of a political powerhouse, Seg and Ama will have to strike an uneasy truce to survive.
The fate of two worlds is in their hands.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2017Warp World by Kristene Perrron & Joshua Simpson has an interesting plot - a world struggling to survive preys on Other worlds for its necessity, "Vita" (used to hold off the Dark Storm), and takes slaves (caj) in the process. It uses "warp" technology to travel to and from its victim worlds (thus the title). It is a bit of an adventure, a love story, and an inspirational survival tale. The main characters are well defined and resourceful. The male leader (called a Theorist) of the People's raiding party, Segkel Eraranat, engages a female boat captain, Amadahy Kalder, of the Kenda caste of the victim world to transport him across oceans to scout the potential "Vita" sites under consideration as targets for his People's raid. In the process, they learn much from and about each other - mutually rescuing each other from "jaws of death" several times, gaining mutual respect, and eventually a mutual romantic relationship. The negatives of the story are the constant stress on the reader as the pair struggle to survive adversity and death throughout the whole story with an ending that also leaves their future in serious jeopardy. Another weakness is the failure of the authors to give any explanation as to the nature, origin or reason for the Dark Storm or Vita, what it is, how it's acquired and used to hold off the Dark Storm. Also, there is little Sci-Fi "technology" beyond a "warp gate" and "automed' device which is used multiple times to save the lead characters from sure death. Nonetheless, all in all, Warp World is a spellbinding novel that you won't want to put down.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2019I have to admit I've had this book for years but only now left a review. In fact I have all 5 of the books in the series and can't wait to dive into the 5th.
Warpworld is an awesome tale written by two amazing writers. Adventure, intrigue, romance across the worlds, it's got a bit of everything you want in a series and does it well. This being the first book in the series, does leave you with a fair amount of unresolved issues, but does a good job of pulling the reader in and keeping them wanting more.
A great read and a solid buy recommendation.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 30, 2018This is a really fun story. It is well written and moves along at a solid pace. There are enough details but not too many to bog things down. The characters are interesting helping an already interesting tale really keep you involved. There are plenty of plot twists and unhappy moments that suck you in.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2019Not too many grammatical errors. The plot is interesting. This author writes well. I would read more from this person. While there were some slow spots, it did not take away from the story. Keep up the good work.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 18, 2019This book had two sets of awesome world building with interesting histories. I liked the first half very much, but the second half had me scoffing. Not only was there too much plot armor for pretty much any named character, but they started to behave odd. Seg trusts Ama too much and lets her get away with everything. His technology is strong enough to stop almost all life threatening injuries, but he's still susceptible to Ama's drugs? The ending was action packed (a plus) but also full of clichés. I would have preferred a less traditional finale. I went back and forth on three or four stars, but the ending was so meh that I had to go with the lower of the two. There are more books, but I think the interesting stuff has already been told. This is a great book for fans of CW television shows (the kind where being attractive is more important than being plausible). In other words, not for me, but for millions of others.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2024Seg is on his first mission, to an alien (outer’s) planet to find & build a strategy for a way to retrieve the substance (vita) keeping his world & People alive. Using his years of education & training, to lean on, he begins to plan. Only after he meets Ama, & they fight their way to freedom together, does his true plan start to take shape. An unortho plan that no one on Seg’s world would try, especially since it means contact with Outers. If it succeeds, it will help Ama’s people, help Seg acquire the needed vita, & literally go through the Welf, Kenda, Damiar, & Shasir, to survive. The description of the planets, the characters, their political machinations, & all of the plans in play has been written in such a way that it grabs you & makes it all come to life in the minds eye. Looking forward to their next adventure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hang onto your hat.
High paced but with excellent world building. Very good character development, both primary and secondary, with credible obstructive political machinations. Will be grabbing the next in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars I finished the book in Warp time
It took now time reading the book, it's fascinating.
There is the common trouble that the protagonists seem to forget to speak with each other at the most appropriate times and some gaps in the story line seem to cut out a side story I would like to now, why it happened as written.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic
I loved this book! I couldn't put it down and when I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it. After a stint of reading it it would take me a while to adjust from it's world and back into my own. I loved this book because it was so captivating and I hated it because it dominated my life so much! I am an avid reader and I haven't felt so completely engrossed by a book since Harry Potter. So, if you loved Harry Potter you have to read Warpworld.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book
At last decent sci fi. A great story, likeable and not so likeable but well developed main characters. The story is well rounded and holds the attention for the most part. Some death and destruction, an adequate amount of romantic side story, a good ending with potential for further stories of these individuals and their civilisations. I will read the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Read the series
I very rarely post comments about books, as they are so subjective. I especially don't comment on a series of books, until I have read the whole series..
The Warpworld Saga is well written, has great, believable characters. Twists and turns, some of which you can see coming, some that blindside.
Dune meets the Foundation.
I loved this story,
