I was mike strutks partner in plain clothes. He describes us working undercover in New York after hours clubs in the book. Since I was named in the book I found it most interesting. In addition the case was a major investigation and was brought to a successful conclusion by detectives Struk and Georgio.

MURDER AT THE MET:BASED ON THE EXCLUSIVE ACCOUNTS OF DETECTIVES MIKE STRUK AND JERRY GIORGIO OF HOW THEY SOLVED THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA CASE BY DAVID BLACK focuses on the murder of Helen Hagnes Mintiks,30 year old music prodigy, violinist, wife and victim.
The two main detectives on the case : Detective Mike Struck and Jerry Giorgio, polar opposites in every way but united to catch a killer in a crime scene with over two hundred possible suspects. It could be any one of the two hundred or none of them. Follow the two detectives as they question, seek answers, catch a murderer .

Yes,this book was written in the 80's and techniques are very different ,but the book still can hold the attention of me and anyone who loves the true fiction/detective crime genre.

If you like crime shows on TV, full of the details of how the detective unravelled a case, then you will simply LOVE this book.

And as they say, truth is stranger than fiction.

The book is detailed about the police work involved and presents various aspects of the crime and the investigation. It does not have the page-turning element of fiction, but, the fascination is the very fact that it is a true story. It is so interesting to see the police work unfolding step by step, to go through all the details and the setbacks.

True crime is a far cry from fiction! This book could not be more different from the book I recently wrote, [...]

But as anyone who loves both mystery and opera, opera murder mysteries, either true or fictional, are pretty hard to come by! If you are interested in both, then this book is a must read for you!
