'We'd heard stories about the nurses in tent seven. A secret mission, stolen money, and spies...'
In 1944, four American nurses disappeared for five days. No one knew what happened to them. Until now.
When Kit and Red set foot on French soil during the Normandy landings, they know they have to rely on each other. As they head for the battlefield, their aim is simple: save lives. But when they're called away on a top-secret mission to patch up a few men behind enemy lines, everything changes.

Alongside fellow nurses, Roxy and Gail, they're told to prepare for the worst, trading in their nurses' fatigues for civilian clothes and hiding medical supplies under their skirts. But it's a lie. Their real mission tasks them with the impossible – to infiltrate the Reich and steal something the Nazis desperately need to win their losing war.

In an ultimate test of courage and comradeship, each woman must decide what she is prepared to risk and what she has to live for.

Praise for The Girls From The Beach.

Explosive War Nurses

Explosive War Nurses
Quick thoughts: intense, great historical descriptions, and heartbreaking. My thoughts: I just loved this novel set in the 1940s where 4 nurses were asked to do the unthinkable. Red, Rosy, Gail and Kit were war nurses. They fixed up the soldiers as they came in. They were in horrible circumstances where they were lucky to get a hot meal once a week. Then Red and Kit were asked to help fix up a German soldier who they needed information from. This one event would spiral to another more dangerous undertaking by these women.Told from the perspective of Kit, this book was so good I will have to pick up this authors backlist immediately. LOVED IT!!!

I couldn't put this book down! I'm finding it hard to put into words what this book has meant to me and how it made me feel. Andie Newton is a storyteller! I felt every single kind of emotion being wrapped up in these women's lives. Kit, Red, Roxy and Gail stole my heart and still hasn't let go. The ending was extremely satisfying. Female courage, strength, and the bonds of friendship are at the core of this novel. This is a gritty war story, and doesn't gloss over the realties of war, but at the same time is done very tenderly. I learned so much while also being entertained moment by moment by a fascinating, edge of my seat story (there is a race against time element that will get your heart racing!) Who knew about these incredible D-Day nurses? The way Newton weaves in the dual narrative to further the story set in WW2 was masterfully done. I heard the bombs. I smelled the smoke. I felt the earth shake from the encroaching battle, and I felt the chill of the rain! Which for me, was another character, an antagonist to go with the war. I can't recommend this book enough. I'm a retired teacher of 30 years, and I know books. And THIS book is my favorite read. I preordered the paperback even though I already read the digital, so I can put it on my bookshelves and keep forever. Hollywood, pay attention to this author, and this book! It is a rare thing for a book to stay with me days after I've read it, but this one has. Can't stop thinking about these characters and their journey. Thank you Andie Newton for writing this.

Good read about women working, spying during WWII

Andie Newton is back again with another exciting, fascinating historical featuring some of the bravest women I've ever read about!

The book kicks off in 1989 with a reporter on the trail of a "story of a lifetime". His boss has asked him to write a piece on nurses in WWII he remembered a box that his mother had sent to him containing information and photos of when she was a nurse at a field hospital. He finds a diary that mentions the mysterious incident involving a group of nurses who went missing for five days, and that a woman named Kit may know what happened.

The book alternates between that time and back in 1944 where Kit, Red, Roxy, and Gail are nurses on the front line. One day they are asked to go on a secret mission to help tend to wounded soldiers behind the enemy lines, and despite the danger in that they agree, but they later find out what their true mission is, and it's even more complicated than they ever expected.

This book was a nail-biter for sure! Andie's writing is so good - she literally drops you into the scene like you are there, especially the scenes where the women are on the front lines, with explosions and death all around. I could see it playing in front of me like a movie!

This is a wonderfully unique historical that even readers who are "WWII'd out" can appreciate. It's a tale of the bravery of women, friendship, and fighting for your country. I highly enjoyed it and definitely recommend you checking out!

The title didn't prepare me for the incredibly well written story that unfolded and developed page after page. As a Vietnam veteran, wounded in action, in the field there were more men than women. But those that were there were as brave as any soldier. I can't encourage enough the reading of this incredible story. My thanks to the author!!

It’s hard to imagine what it must have been like for anywho who’s ever been involved in war. We can try to empathize, but it isn’t the same. This story is so perfectly written that I can feel the characters’ emotions: the joy, pain, hope, fear. This story will stick with me for the rest of my life, and I will be sure to return to it time and time again to remind me. Not just to remind me of the horrors that our nurses and soldiers lived through, but of the eternal hope they had to hold out to make it through. Thank you for another favorite, Andie❤️

There was too many ridiculous episodes where the girls did ridiculous things. Could have been a great story but I prefer stories that don't insult your intelligence.
