About the author
In a career spanning more than seventy years, Ray Bradbury, who died on June 5, 2012, at the age of 91, inspired generations of readers to dream, think, and create. A prolific author of hundreds of short stories and close to fifty books, as well as numerous poems, essays, operas, plays, teleplays, and screenplays, Bradbury was one of the most celebrated writers of our time. His groundbreaking works include Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, Dandelion Wine, and Something Wicked This Way Comes. He wrote the screen play for John Huston's classic film adaptation of Moby Dick, and was nominated for an Academy Award. He adapted sixty-five of his stories for television's The Ray Bradbury Theater, and won an Emmy for his teleplay of The Halloween Tree. He was the recipient of the 2000 National Book Foundation Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters, the 2004 National Medal of Arts, and the 2007 Pulitzer Prize Special Citation, among many honors.
Throughout his life, Bradbury liked to recount the story of meeting a carnival magician, Mr. Electrico, in 1932. At the end of his performance Electrico reached out to the twelve-year-old Bradbury, touched the boy with his sword, and commanded, "Live forever!" Bradbury later said, "I decided that was the greatest idea I had ever heard. I started writing every day. I never stopped."

- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2023It’s a short read 39 pages. Anyone can read this that’s at minimum a 5th grade reading level. It has educational parts to help strengthen comprehension and vocabulary and exercises on how to be a good writer. Highly recommend it especially for high school or middle school teachers for their students as away to improve writing and learn ti start living reading again. The story was well thought out.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 7, 2024This story is fit for any period in history, so to speak, but since 2015 I find myself re-reading it quite often, as well as gifting it to numerous like-minded friends. Thanks to Ray!!!🦋

- Reviewed in the United States on February 28, 2022I was so excited to find this story! Many years ago, my big sister read it (I was in elementary school), she told me about it and I always wanted to read it. Fast forward too many years to count I am finally able to read it too!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 19, 2016A one other reviewer says, this is not the book but something similar to cliff notes on a small passage from the real book. This needs to be made clear to the buyer, like myself, who thought this was the entire book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2020"Glistening green and gold and black, was a butterfly, very beautiful and very dead."
~ A Sound of Thunder
This is how a short story should be told, a universe encapsulated in less than 3000 words. This is the work of a master.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ficção científica e análise político-social

5.0 out of 5 stars Interessante

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice short story and an exemplar of the science fiction genre
Short but very witty and is the genesis for a lot of stories like it. I heard about this book from Life is Strange and you can definitely see the heritage. I would really recommend reading as a little bit of fun on the train one morning or before you go bed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Un piccolo grande classico del genere sci-fi
