Battle Bunny Kindle Edition
Alex has been given a saccharine, sappy, silly-sweet picture book about Birthday Bunny that his grandma found at a garage sale. Alex isn’t interested—until he decides to make the book something he’d actually like to read. So he takes out his pencil, sharpens his creativity, and totally transforms the story!
Birthday Bunny becomes Battle Bunny, and the rabbit’s innocent journey through the forest morphs into a supersecret mission to unleash an evil plan—a plan that only Alex can stop.
Featuring layered, original artwork that emphasizes Alex’s additions, this dynamic exploration of creative storytelling is sure to engage and inspire.

* "This is a perfect book to give independent readers who are looking for something a little different. The unique layout and design will inspire creativity in readers." (School Library Journal, in a starred review)
* “An enthusiastically taboo, devil-may-care outing for combat fans—and a great writing inspiration to use on old books headed for the bin.” (Kirkus)

So I wrote a book and the illustrator ended up being Matt Myers. I then looked up his work and found Battle Bunny.
This is one of those books with a concept so fun I wish I’d written it. A kid gets a hoaky book and changes it to something awesome! YES! Could I have written it? No. I’m a different author but this was great, and kudos to the authors!
But the art?! How did he do it so well? He illustrated two books, one in the old fashioned “Golden Book” style we all are familiar with and one in the illustrations of a small, defiant, talented book vandal! It’s simply brilliant and requires a lot of creativity.
This book is great for ANY CHILD! It is a perfect segue to discussions about preferences and creativity. My kids love it! They range in ages from 21-26 but they remember being kids and appreciate reading books with multi-tiered humor now.
A great book!
Do you enjoy fun characters? If you do, read battle bunny! The character is awesome because he had powers that made him so cool! He even fights people!
You never know when his pranks pop out of his sleve! Read it now! Battle Bunny is the funniest character in the INTIRE TEXT! In my opinion, you should read Battle Bunny because there are super funny characters and extrimely cool for you!
I remember the time Ms. Maitland read it to the class…I laghed like a baby! If you like frozen YOU WILL LOVE BATTLE BUNNY!
I understand some girls do not like this book they like tootoos and stuff but I’m trying to tell you that battle bunny is funnier…And I’m not LYING! JUST READ IT! It is so funny! The characters are halaryous! You should read it- “I mean it.” Now!
All in all, I'd say that this is a great book to bring out to show how NOT to care for a book, but primary kids may or may not "get" it past that.
I bought this book for my 45 year old brother as a gag gift.. I can't help but think that this would have been something he would do to his books as a child! Very fun and creative little book.
I also love the companion website that allowed you to print out your own blank Birthday Bunny book to rewrite. My five-year-old took those pages everywhere we went so that she could write her story, Dr. Dooms Bunny.
I think this would work well with reluctant/struggling readers/writers in elementary and early middle school.

It is very nice to show this book to children, and then give them an old book, telling them to re-write the story on it as an exercise of imagination.
