The Secret Life of Fathers (2nd Edition - Updated with new sections added) - From Intimate Interviews with 101 Fathers of Daughters: An Unexpected Guide to Understanding MEN... and Fathers Kindle Edition
"...groundbreaking…" (Forbes.com)
I challenge you to read this and not start rethinking what your father (and every man you know) is REALLY like.
** Readers’ Favorite 5-Star Award Winner**
For 13 years I ran a behavioral management firm working with some of the largest organizations in the world.
Then I discovered that my own relationship with my middle daughter wasn't as great as I thought.
I wondered if I was the only father this clueless about his relationship with his daughters. So I set out to interview other dads with daughters.
What I discovered was more profound than I could ever have imagined. This book takes you on this journey with me, into a world of joys and sadness that are too often misunderstood.
You think you know your father?
But what if you missed something... so subtle yet so profound, it will change your understanding of what MEN are really like.
For example...
(Starting with your own father) do men sabotage relationships without even realizing it?
(From the first chapter of the book, you will discover a rarely-mentioned quirk in men that damages relationships, and the secret power daughters have to not only bypass it, but to repair it in many dads);
(Starting with your own father) are men actually afraid of women in ways that few people understand?
(Early in the interviews, you will learn how the possibility of a woman's occasional emotional outbursts will often be the source of distress and disorientation for many men, and how to use and overcome it in ways that strengthen your relationships);
Are men imprisoned by certain emotions, making it almost impossible to understand what they're really going through at times?
(Throughout the book, you will discover the emotions men have the most difficulty expressing, and simple ways to break through so he will let you know what he's really feeling).
"...I loved this book…" (Joy Hannabass for Readers' Favorite)
"Surprisingly candid... terrifically rewarding."
"...I was really moved by the joys and heartaches many of these dads were willing to share." (Steve Harrison, Publisher, Radio-TV Interview Report /RTIR)
In this 2nd edition of his provocative book, behaviorist James I. Bond takes you on a journey deep inside the minds of men and fathers, beneath their often carefully-guarded defenses.
By eavesdropping on 101 father of daughters (when no woman is in the room) and accessing breakthrough research, you will discover... the profound influence women have on their fathers (often without realizing it)...and the profound influence men have on their daughters.
A page turner that will simplify your relationships in ways you never expected.

About the author

James I. Bond is founder of The Father-Daughter Project™.
For 13 years he ran a Behavioral Management firm working with some of the nation's largest organizations, when he discovered that his own relationship with his middle daughter, Lauren, wasn't as great as he thought.
To help figure out how he could become a better father to his three daughters, he turned to other men who had daughters.
Because of his Behavioral Management background, these discussions evolved into 2-hour recorded, deeply personal interviews with over 100 fathers across the U.S. and Canada.
What came out of these interviews for him, was more profound than James could ever have imagined.
Excerpts from these interviews became the basis of the book, The Secret Life of Fathers, and led to the founding of The Father-Daughter Project™.

of men with daughters. From their fears and their discomfort,
to their openness to playing "pretty pretty princess" (crown and all,
and their willingness to admit it all...I was engaged with it all.
My dad is a great dad, and we have a great relationship, but he was pretty stoic
when I was growing up. He would play with us; he would teach me stuff and show up
to our events. He was supportive, loving and kind; he laughed with us and talked to
us and taught us stuff, but was not super verbal about what he was feeling. He still
isn't to this day.
So a book like this kind of captivates me - allowing me a look into the range of emotions
that men actually have. I've always been a little surprised when men show a depth of emotion
because I wasn't really exposed to that much.
I learned things I would never have guessed about men. I felt recognized by some of their insights about what a daughter needs (a safe place, guidance, encouragement, love). I didn't get much of that from my dad and the interviews in the book threw light on some of the reasons for that. I don't remember my dad being that involved in my life: after reading this, I wonder if he wanted to be more involved but didn't know how.
I think this should be required reading of all dads of daughters so they don't end up regretting what they missed and so that their daughters can look back later and say "You were a loving, supportive dad!" And daughters should read it too, so they know what makes their dad tick.
The Secret Life of Fathers (2nd Edition - Updated with new sections added) - From Intimate Interviews with 101 Fathers of Daughters: An Unexpected Guide to Understanding MEN... and Fathers by THE FATHER-DAUGHTER PROJECT and James I. Bond is a fantastic book that deals with the relationship between fathers and daughters.
The book is a treasure of information and practical advice that will help both fathers and daughters to understand each other better and promote the relationship a beautiful and useful balance.
The interviews are fantastic, very informative, educational and sometimes emotional which I found personally very interesting.
It covers the relationship between father's and daughters from birth to when the daughter is 49+ years old.
It is a very detailed and analytical project, and you can see first hand that a lot of love and hard work was invested in this book.
Highly recommend it, especially if you are a father or intend to be one in the near or far future.
