Top reviews from the United States

Paul Errington was a contemporary and colleague of Aldo Leopold.
He was bred on a prairie farm, and tramped the local prairie
pothole marshes year-round. As an academic scientist, he
contributed to our understanding of the inland wetland biome.
This book is a young man's adventure, the true story of the
winter that he spent alone, running a trapline in the Canadian
bush. Errington is an eloquent and articulate writer,
and I feel this account ranks with
    Sevareid's _Canoeing_With_The_Cree_, and
    with Maclean's _A_River_Runs_Through_It_.
Those few who cherish a love for frosty mornings on prairie
marshes (you old duck-hunters, this means you) should seek out
    a used copy of Errington's _Of_Men_And_Marshes_.
This slim volume of musings on the marsh year belongs
on the same shelf with Hochbaum's _The_Canvasback_On_A_ Prairie_Marsh
    and Leopold's _Round_River_.
