Like Sleeping Beauty awakening from her 100-year slumber, these childhood favorites arise fresh and blooming every time they're read. This new compilation of some of the world's greatest fairy tales abounds in timeless stories of the struggle of good against evil, bravery in the face of overwhelming danger, and virtue rewarded with everlasting love. Told to Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm almost two centuries ago by European storytellers, the tales possess all of the most engaging elements of folklore — from magic spells and enchanted frogs to a colorful cast of noble princes, lovely maidens, giants, witches, and other fantastic characters.
These forty-five unabridged stories, selected from the more than 200 collected by the Brothers Grimm, include such unforgettable classics as "Snow White," "The Elves and the Shoemaker," "The Brave Little Tailor," "The Golden Goose," "Hansel and Gretel," "Little Red Riding Hood," "Rumpelstiltskin," "Rapunzel," and "Tom Thumb."

One of the best prints of these fairy tales I ever seem.... Great classic story.... "Illustrated Junior Library" is one of the best compilations you can buy or find anywhere. There is a reason it has been published for decades. .. "illustrated Junior Library" is slightly abridged/condensed for a teenager audience. If you want the original in the old language with archaic slang and verse then look for an older edition, yet this is very close, but it's been edited from it's original to bring grammar to modern ages and appeal to teenage readers.

This was a gift for my son who has developed an interest in reading classics of literature in the dual language format. This was a very affordable version of the Grimms' Fairy Tales in that format.

After I read each story, I had to stop and think. Were they funny, did they give me a lesson or was there more to the story than I first thought? They turned out to be like stories in the Bible that seem to be teaching me something, but the meaning changes as I think about them. Once I started reading each of the stories, I had to keep reading to the end.

I had this book as a child and decided to get it again. The stories are straight-forward and easy to read, but the illustrations are what I remember most about this book. Quite a lovely book. I'm glad to have it again.

I'm disappointed in the hardcover (not necessarily the dust jacket also) of the book as the design and print is not pressed into the hardcover with gold leaf or ink like other hardcover books do traditionally. This book is only worth $20 at the most!

I was really hoping these books would be better quality for the price as I wanted to start a whole collection but these books are not of that quality. Especially for the price point. I might be looking for a different publisher...

I love Grimm's fairy tales because they give me back my youth. I had a book and its matching brother, Anderson's fairy tales, several years ago. As my wife, then, and I were divorcing, she stole both books from me. I read my nine month-old daughter fairy tales. I have a large collection of fairy tales. Sometimes, that's what life can be: a fairy tale. I'm glad I bought this book.
