Michael Soluri has been photographing the people and places of space exploration for more than fifteen years. With the support of Discover magazine, NASA, and the astronaut crew, he was able to gain unfettered access to the multiple worlds of the historic, one-of-a-kind shuttle mission and tools that saved the Hubble Space Telescope. His friendship with the crew grew out of a chance meeting with Mike Massimino, one of the seven astronauts selected for the last-ever servicing mission to the Hubble. Fantastic Book That Chronicles The Last Hubble Servicing Mission.

I want to introduce you to photographer and author Michael Soluri. Michael has written a new book called "Infinite Worlds," that chronicles the astronauts and shuttle workforce as they prep for the last Hubble servicing mission through pictures and the words of the actual people involved. Michael spent three years at the various space centers documenting the effort and got to know many of the people well. He would make a wonderful guest describing the efforts that went into preparing the mission and the people involved.

Truth in advertising - I contributed one of the eighteen essays published in Michael Soluri's beautiful book. It was a huge honor to be invited to be a part of it. That said, having lived through the trials and triumphs of Hubble's final servicing mission, I was a bit surprised about how effectively Soluri's visual narrative swept even me along - it is thrilling and breathtaking. I purchased multiple copies to send out as gifts to friends and family members all over the country. The responses I received back from them were uniformly glowing. Some of their descriptions were, "An exquisite gift," "Such a beautiful book," "So cool," "What a great book!" and "Wow, what a beautiful book! And what an interesting approach to telling the story." It's a compelling story of human achievement the likes of which we may not see again for a long time and so well told!

I was watching the Total Eclipse of the Sun 2017, in a tiny one-cow town in southern Illinois, when a white pickup truck parked right next to me. An elderly couple got out - he was wearing an embroidered "Hubble" polo shirt. I asked him about it, and it turned out they were the parents of "Scooter", the astronaut in the center of the cover photograph, who had made five space missions to repair the Hubble telescope. The shirt he was wearing had actually been to space! Very nice book, very informative, perfect for any coffee table!

Truly beautiful. This book contains beauty in every page. It might well be cliche during this year to say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" (also trite, if using this as a reposte), and I shall maintain that this book will make everybody able to see the beauty in human space flight.
Beauty exists throughout this book. The very paper on which the borderless images are printed, is substantial and smooth. The images themselves are heartbreaking in their clarity and purprose. I suspect this book will convince anybody of the appeal, the dedication, and the brilliance behind human space flight.
This is a large and heavy book. Do not doubt this. My copy was not bound so tightly that the spine cracked upon first opening. I like this.

We ordered this because my husband worked on the Hubble and its servicing missions for 24 years. He knew all of the people interviewed and we were excited to see he was even mentioned in it and even found a small picture of him. This technical book is really geared toward people who really knew Hubble, its history and its workings. Some awesome Hubble pictures, as well. If you are a space buff, it's a great book to add to your collection.

Kindle Edition is Terrible; Publisher Should Be Ashamed

The Kindle edition of this book is deeply flawed and the publisher (and/Amazon) should issue an update for those (like me) unfortunate enough to have purchased it. Even when reading this in the Kindle app on a full-sized iPad, in many areas the text is cut off on the rightmost margin (and none of the font or spacing settings help). In other areas, dozens of photos actually overlay the text of the book. And, unlike in the hard copy, there are no captions on most of the photographs. All in all, a pretty poor e-book product from a major publisher, and a deeply frustrating Kindle offering that shouldn't have been released in this form.
