About the author
CHEVY STEVENS lives on Vancouver Island with her husband and daughter. When she’s not working on her next book, she’s hiking with her two dogs on her favorite mountain trails and spending time with her family. Chevy's current obsessions are vintage airstreams, Hollywood memoirs, all things mid-century modern, and stand-up comedians--not necessarily in that order. Her debut novel, STILL MISSING, was a New York Times bestseller and won the International Thriller Writers Award for Best First Novel. Her books, including THOSE GIRLS which Stephen King called "incredibly scary", have been published in more than thirty countries. Her novel, DARK ROADS, will be released summer 2021. - Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2017Never Let You Go was SO GOOD! I loved it! Part one of the book alternates past and present from the main character, Lindsey, who is in an abusive marriage. We see how their relationship started, how it progressed, and how her husband Andrew turned obsessive and violent. We also see her present day life with him as she tries to leave and escape her marriage with her seven year old daughter, Sophie.
After Part One, we fast forward 11 years, where Andrew is in prison and Lindsey and Sophie live alone in their new life. However, when Andrew is released from prison, Lindsey can't shake the feeling that someone is watching her. Things progress, and she can tell someone has been in her house. Has Andrew come back to finish what he started all those years ago when he tried killing Lindsey?
I'll say it again - I loved this book! I especially loved the characters. We really got to know Lindsey and Sophie, and I loved the chapters that were told from both of them. I really enjoyed how close they were and their relationship both as mother/daughter, but also as friends. Sophie acted the way I'd imagine any teenager would, and there were times I wanted to shake her, but I think that lent itself really well to making the book feel realistic!
When I first started reading the book, it reminded me a lot of Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, which is my all time favorite thriller, so I loved that! That said, the book deviated and definitely was it's own story, which was great in that I didn't feel like I'd already read the book before. Sometimes with thrillers it feels like storylines repeat themselves fairly often across different books, and I'm happy to say that was not the case here.
This book had me tense the entire time! I was dying to know what would happen and how everything played out, and I had a hard time putting it down. When I did have to set it down to do other things, I couldn't stop thinking about it, which is the sign of a great book in my opinion! I was suspicious of everyone, and even still, I didn't predict the ending, which I love.
Overall, this was an excellent (and super creepy!) thriller that I'd recommend for all fans of the genre! I cannot wait to read more from Chevy Stevens. A huge thank you to Netgalley, Chevy Stevens, and the St. Martin's Press for an ARC of the book. It was my pleasure to provide an honest review.

Wow!! What a great book. This is definitely a who done it kind of book. I had so many conclusions but no clue of who did it.
I was in love with majority of the characters. My heart aches because someone I hated very much ended up being someone I regretted hating. If you have read it you get it. All the main characters had a purpose and a story.
I will say this wasn’t fast paced as it says. It did keep my attention and told a story that could be any woman’s story who has suffered domestic abuse. Some things were sadly very realistic. So beware this contains many triggers.
This was my first book by this author and just know it won’t be my last. I love her writing style and I’m excited to check out more of her books!!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United States on March 30, 2017From the first page you read, you know that this is going to be one great book. The story of Lindsey who escapes with her daughter from an abusive husband - to be on the run - and finally end up rebuilding her life when her husband ends up in jail. But when he is released, she finds her home invaded and her daughter followed. But she doesnt want to run anymore, and decides to stand up to him.
But is he the one who is guilty? Who else could it be. This story has romance and suspense with a little love thrown in and lots of obsession to go around. Some things don't add up, but only when you get through most of the book, do you see the twist in this story.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2017This psychological thriller is the one that leaves you guessing almost up until the end. It’s also the one that reminds me of going to see a movie with my mom and she would guess about a quarter through who was guilty of the crime. (She did this with books too.) I never knew right away and while I was in awe of my mom for guessing so soon, I was able to sit back and enjoy the story unfold without knowing how it was going to end.
I started Chevy Stevens’ NEVER LET YOU GO knowing that this was about a newlywed couple where the woman soon finds out that her husband is not who she thought he was. He is physically and emotionally abusive. Too afraid to tell her parents or brother, as her family has become financially dependent on him, she keeps this dark secret to herself. The protagonist suffers in silence, during her pregnancy and while her daughter is young, shielding her from her husband’s violent outbursts.
This goes on for several years, until she can no longer take it. She must find a way out. What ensues following her escape from this monster, with her young daughter in tow, has a domino effect. Her ex-husband is sent to jail. Flash forward to the present when her daughter is almost 18 and soon to graduate high school. Mother and daughter are doing well, feel safe, and have settled into their new lives. That is all about to change.
I didn’t figure out who was ‘it’ until about three-quarters through the book. Up until then and after that point, I couldn’t put the book down, because I had to find out who was responsible and what was going to happen. It’s a nail biter.

The story is well written, it takes a lot of time to develop that it might become a little boring and frustrating. Love the ending.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant and very edgy!
This is the first book I've read by this author but it won't be the last. Put "Still Missing" in my basket just as soon as I finished reading this novel. I have a feeling I will probably end up reading all of her work if they are as good as this one. Fantastic character development, no over writing, second guessing all along the plot line...it was a great read. Highly recommended if you like mystery that keeps you guessing into the wee hours. Hard to put down. Give it a go. I think you will be very pleased. I certainly was. A new fan of Ms. Stevens!
