Have you ever read a book and then sat there rooted to your spot wondering what the hell just happened? That’s what I felt like after I read, no inhaled, this debut novel by Tempest Phan, Damien Forever.I’d already heard it was amazing from several bookish friends and it has probably one of my favorite covers, so really it was a no-brainer for me. And, wow am I glad I did.The story of Damien and Bella will leave your heart shredded and you’ll wonder how the hell they will ever get their happily ever after. Because if ANYONE deserves a HEA, Damien James does.I think I went through all the stages of grief in this book: denial, anger, depression and acceptance but thankfully, thankfully the author put my heart back together (though it’ll never be the same).Great debut and well worth the read!

This quote pretty much sums up my review. I was completely transfixed by Bella and Damien 🖤🖤 The writing is exquisite and often poetic. The characters are incredibly rich, complex, layered, imperfect - and I felt EVERYTHING along their journey. They have that all-consuming, soul-deep love; they are each other's biggest supporters and protectors. But life, difficult circumstances, and drastically different socicioeconomic status place many obstacles and hard choices in their path. Their story is told in Dual-POV over about a ten year period, starting from age 17.

One of the things I love about second chance romance is that it acknowledges that even 'written in the stars fated love' does not mean that each person is where and who they need to be for a relationship with the other and lets the reader follow the characters' growth, including all the stumbles along the way. One of my favorite things about this story is that it is second chance on a few different levels -- there's the second chance romance for Bella and Damien; there's second chance pivotal life moments for a few characters; there's second chance repairing relationships with others.

This is so much more than a tragic love story ... It touches on grief, mental health, self worth, addiction, and behind-the-scenes glimpses of the rock star's rise to fame. Every moment is written with an emotional depth and intensity that makes reading this story an incredible experience.

As soon as I stumbled across this book while on social media, I immediately started looking forward to it! I picked it up and got right into the Art of Sinners world! I enjoyed this first book!

Damien and Bella's journey grabbed my attention quickly! Sometimes your feelings for someone can change everything, something both Damien and Bella know. I couldn't wait to see how it'd all play out for these two!

I didn't know what all to expect in this story which I liked. I felt many things with both Damien and Bella throughout.

With Damien, Forever, Ms.Phan has created such a good read! I'm looking forward to reading book two in this world, Lukas, Sometimes!

I have only read one other book that is poetic and heartbreaking and beautiful as this one out of the thousands I have read in my life. My heart was shatter and left bleeding crying out with the pain of this beautiful, beautiful boy that didn't believe he deserved the love of the sweetest, most genteel girl. But he did deserve her love. And she loved him in spite of his demons.

Damien works hard to push the girl away. His past, his present, his insecurities and doubts always filling his mind. It never once made his affection waver. The intense love he felt for Bella only grew more and more profound and the darkness in his heart grew every second, minute, and hour he continued to push her away. Sweet, sweet boy turn man couldn't stop loving her. He wanted her to have everything. Happiness and love above all, but he just couldn't understand - he was her happiness.
Bella so completely, irrevocably in love with the broken boy that was scared to let her see his darkness. The darkness she always saw and made her love him more. She never let go. She never gave up. In its own time. She would always belong to him.

This book brings every feeling imaginable. Heartbreak, laughter, angst, and joy. Above all you can feel the love. Phan does a job that only a select few are gifted with - the finely woven words she turns a romance novel into a sonnet of love. Her way of bringing forth so much emotion is rare but to make you feel like you are the characters, more so. Beautifully, wonderfully done. This book deserves so much more than five stars, but alas, that is the only option. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Phan and hope she continues to weave us beauty.

When I tell you that Tempest broke my heart and put it back together so many times with Damien and Bella, it's an understatement. This is not just a love story. This is a story about brokenness and knowing that in the middle of being broken and trying to put yourself back together again there is someone in the corner who is fighting your battles not for you, but with you. Bella was that fighter for Damien. They grew up together, Bella being the rich girl with the dad who didn't think Damien was good enough for her. Damien believed it, but only because of the emotional battles he was fighting on his own. He was dealing with trauma, and because he knew he had issues that he needed to work through he didn't want to involve Bella.

He didn't realize how strong Bella was until it was almost too late. These two weren't two halves trying to make a whole, and that's what I love about this story. It's about trying to get that healthy, soulful love without having to lose yourself in someone else's pain. People with pain are capable of love and should never feel like they can't be loved. They can work through the pain, and know in the end there is someone who will take them as they are. Tempest words and prose just weave into your soul, and I was weeping at the end.

Do you know which agency you should be reported to for theft? Serious question. I did not give you permission to steal a bit of my soul with your novel. How very dare you.

Unfortunately, the sheer quantity of tears shed over this angsty debut of yours cannot be blamed on an overly hormonal PMS. Since it can't be blamed on that, then it must, therefore, be placed on you.

Damien, Forever is extremely well written. It is beautiful and gut-wrenching and heartbreaking and stunning. That this is a debut novel is simply...unimaginable. I've never read anything quite like it, and I will be sure to read everything else she writes.

For those that have an issue with this sort of thing, I will add a warning ⚠️ There is a love triangle and 1 sharing scene.

Damien, Forever is Tempest Phan debut novel, and I think she did a marvelous job. It was a childhood friends to lovers, full of anguish, rockstar, and it's over a period of time. The characters Damien, and Mirabella were likeable, and so relatable. They were so in love! My Damien James, has many demons to overcome before he can be the man he wants to be for Bella. I liked the supporting characters as well, especially Lukas. (His story is next) I was drawn into this story from the start, it was slow burning journey, full of emotions, and I was cheering for them to get their happily ever after. Looking forward to reading many more stories from this author.
