Editorial Reviews
Review
"Winthrop Sargeant furnishes not only a masterly translation and concisely informative introductions and notes, but also a transliteration of the original text. This makes it possible for the newcomer to perceive and enjoy the sound of the original, which in India has always been given enormous and almost magical importance." - The New Yorker
"If you don't know Sanskrit but you still want to come to grips with the Gītā in its original language, then this is the version for you." - Yoga Journal
"There is no other Sanskrit text available to the English-language reader that can compare to this one in comprehensiveness of linguistic material." - Philosophy East and West

This translation includes one verse per page. In the left column of each page is Devanagari, transliteration, literal word-for-word translation, and a readable translation that stays as close as possible to the literal translation.
In the right column of each page is a verse-specific dictionary style vocabulary list complete with grammar notes (e.g., gender, case, number).
The front matter does a great job of providing context and a summary.
It’s a very helpful format for better understanding the original text.

I have a hard copy of this which I tried to have spiral bound, doesn't work very well with books over 600 pages. At close to 800 pages, the electronic version is much easier to travel with. The one page at a time translation SHOULD work great for tablets, BUT... I have a few gripes with the formatting not always working that way and it gets a bit frustrating. That might be my fault for not understanding settings of my consumer device - iPad, and it looks like a Kindle user found it unusable in another review.
This is the best translation I have found so far in terms of word by word translation, and for learning sanskrit.
ADVANTAGES:
This is the most accurate, least biased translation that I have read. A lot of work has gone into parsing (identifying the grammar) of each sanskrit word. It retains some of the prosody and poetry of the original, unlike almost all other translations. Neither is it much encumbered by commentary. Each page has lots of space where you can add your own notes.
DISADVANTAGES
The font size is too small. The devanagari script requires the vision of a hawk in bright sunlight.
The layout could have been improved. The layout is excellent for word by word examination, but not perfect for an easy read through in either Sanskrit or English. The translation is a precise rendition of the original, rather than being a loose translation in easy flowing English.
Specifically, each line of each verse is given in devanagari script with direct transliteration and literal translation. To the right of each verse are Sanskrit dictionary excerpts with grammatical detail. Below each verse is Sargeant's translation. For many verses Sargeant provides additional gloss to elucidate context.
It was easy under this format to timestamp each verse against an ISKCON Sanskrit recitation so the richness of the language of the dialogue could be savoured.
It is beautifully organized. The grammar is on the right hand side if one chooses to dwell into this dimension, and for the quick reader the English rendering is at the bottom of the page.
All in all a great version.

C'è una buona introduzione, non troppo lunga, poi il testo viene riportato con il significato parola per parola, senza commenti (se non minimi, tanto per inquadrare il soggetto).
Aggiungo che avevo già la versione Kindle, ma non mi trovavo bene, quindi ho preso questa cartacea.
