About the author
Christian Andreo began her writing career at Berklee College of Music after winning a position in the prestigious Singer/Songwriter Showcase. Notebooks filled with lyrics soon merged with her predilection for science fiction and fantasy novels, taking the shape of emotionally driven stories, often fraught with fluid moralities to complement a lyricist’s perspective. Born in western Pennsylvania, educated in Boston, and relocated to North Texas as a young professional, her urban fantasy and science fiction typically contains cultural and scenic references to her stomping grounds.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020This author is amazing. I loved the way this paranormal tale is both tense, anxious, but also fun and captivating. Wren is the main character of the book, combining normal with supernatural, her abilities to feel and do stuff outside of the regular being the main subject of this amazing tale. The romance of the book is not normal, to say the least. But this gives the book its entire crazy, different twist.
One of the few imperfections of the book is the tendency of the author to dive too much into some of the descriptions. It’s not a lot but it sometimes feels like it’s a little on the stretchy side. Which is not a bad thing entirely but for our ages, it’s easier to go through a book that’s more to the point. This is just my “negative comment” for this book because besides this, I LOVED the tale. I’m giving it 5/5 stars regardless of my comment about descriptions. Christian is a great writer to be followed, I’m sure he’s got more aces under his sleeve.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2021Before Autumn Fades is a solid paranormal YA read with lots of great twists and surprises. Wren, the main character, and her mother move to a new town in New York after losing her father. Being in a new town with a new school, Wren assumes it will be hard to meet people and make friends. But she meets a nice, cute guy on the beach. The only problem with Jordan is that he's dead. He's a ghost and she's the only person who can see him. It turns out he lived in her house. Spookier yet another girl died in her new house as well. And this girl, Autumn, is not quite as nice.
I'd never heard of the term sasayakimasu before but in Andreo's book this means a person who can see ghosts. Wren finds this means so much more and she and her friend Emo start a quest to discover just how much. I liked that this book shared a new type of paranormal being (at least to me) and that the plot wasn't predictable. Wren is pretty damaged and that aspect of the book was hard to read. The book may include triggers for those struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
A solid first book for this, in my opinion, up and coming new author.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 10, 2021This was definitely a page Turner. Everything about this book was amazing and keeps you engaged and on your toes. You will not want to put this book down. I truly enjoyed reading this book. I am i love with all the caricatures and couldn't get enough of the story. If you are looking for a story that is all mysterious, supernaturally inspirational and romantically motivating. This is the book for you. It may be fictional but the way this author has pland out and scripted each and every piece of this novel. You feel as if it has actually taken place. And who knows maybe there is truth behind the authors words. We may never know..... Happy Reading!!!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2020I can’t expect lain the book without giving spoilers so I’ll say that I really loved this book. The characters all felt like real people, the suspense and intrigue mixed well with the creepy moments and there was an overall good balance. I was sucked in from the beginning and even now, half an hour after I finished the book, I almost want to re-read it
- Reviewed in the United States on July 2, 2020I’m not usually into books about teenagers, but I was a big fan of the adventure stuff in the author’s first novel, and the paranormal aspects of this one looked pretty interesting. This guy comes up with compelling stories, and the mystery here is for sure worth the read. It’s not the easiest read, though… he doesn’t spoon-feed the story, and I like that. I’m rating it four stars, more as a warning than anything, because there’s a lot of trigger material for people with depression. Yeah, I saw the 16-18 age warning, but maybe it should be more obvious in the description. Personally looking forward to the next one.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2020A tense and emotional story about a new town, private school and a haunted house. The characters are well-developed and a dark romance. Fans of Beautiful Creatures and A Ghost Bride will enjoy this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2020This is a well written paranormal/YA story. The original and honest plot is sure to surprise and delight the aficionado. Moreover, the author calls it “Book 0.” So there’s more to be had in the future.
Wren and her mom move to a new town, a new school, a new set of friends and an old house that used to be a Bed & Breakfast. And, oh yes, it’s also haunted. Wren meets Jordan and he tells her not only that he’s dead, but that she must also be dead because she sees him, hears him and can touch him. The rest you’ll have to read. And you will be pleased I gave away so little of the plot because the book will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
There’s a passage I loved written in the classical “don’t tell me, show me” technique. Wren is sitting on Jordan’s lap in a small truck cabin. The author’s description of how Jordan is holding Wren and how it makes her feel is one of the most provocative scenes I’ve ever read, in an elegant manner. I challenge you not to feel it. Christian Andreos is an author to be watched and "Before Autumn Fades" is a book not to miss.
Five Stars!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2021The writing itself is well done, the story interesting. I wanted to like the characters, but there were all these little things that were so unbelievable, and not the hot, conversational ghost guy.
As a very near-sighted person, I can tell you it is ridiculous that she would take off her glasses to go running on a new-to-her isolated, wooded trail. Just no. Good way to end up at the ER. Next, no girl on an isolated trail with no people around would have a male runner creep up beside her and she NOT LOOK to see who it was. Then, there is the fact the college guy she slept with called HER MOM to say her was worried that she wouldn't talk to him. That it was her first time and she won't return his calls. And the MOM is all that's not polite, honey, answer his calls. What? She doesn't go off on the college dude for hooking up with her high school aged kid and then harassing her with a stream of calls and texts? It was one eye roll after the other. It got to the point where I could not focus on the plot because the background story was so unrealistic. This book need some younger, female beta readers desperately.
