"Inspired me to ask myself why and to stop postponing the forgotten dreams." ―Geneen Roth, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Women Food and God and This Messy Magnificent Life

Full of inspirational insights and advice, lifehacks, and real-world examples,
Someday is Not a Day in the Week is CEO Sam Horn’s motivational guide to help readers get what they want in life today rather than "someday."

Are you:
• Working, working, working?
• Busy taking care of everyone but yourself?
• Wondering what to do with the rest of your life?
• Planning to do what makes you happy someday when you have more time, money, or freedom?

What if someday never happens? As the Buddha said, “The thing is, we think we have time.”
Sam Horn is a woman on a mission about not waiting for SOMEDAY ... and this is her manifesto. Her dad’s dream was to visit all the National Parks when he retired. He worked six to seven days a week for decades. A week into his long-delayed dream, he had a stroke. Sam doesn’t want that to happen to you. She took her business on the road for a Year by the Water. During her travels, she asked people, “Do you like your life? Your job? If so, why? If not, why not?”

The surprising insights about what makes people happy or unhappy, what they’re doing about it (or not), and why...will inspire you to carve out time for what truly matters now, not later.

Life is much too precious to postpone. It’s time to put yourself in your own story. The good news is, there are “hacks” you can do right now to make your life more of what you want it to be. And you don’t have to be selfish, quit your job, or win the lottery to do them. Sam Horn offers actionable, practical advice in short, snappy chapters to show you how to get started on your best life ― now.

An even more relevant book during these uncertain times
I read Sam Horn's book just before the pandemic but have picked it up and re-read again during the most unsettling of moments in these last few weeks. I have also recommended it to many of my clients + bought a copy for some. Why?Because now more than ever we are experiencing the deepest moments of introspection. Sitting in isolation, faced with uncertainty and massive amounts of change, has brought upon many of us the realization that we might not have been living our best lives.Time to change it - time to stop putting things off. Time to start working towards our dreams, even the ones that seem unlikely, TODAY and not tomorrow. Sam Horn's book inspires me to do just that. It will inspire you too.

Have you ever felt stuck or stymied in your life path? Or know someone in your circle of friends who does? SOMEDAY (is not a day in the week) is the perfect book to help move us along toward joy, wisdom, and fulfillment. Written by a talented and gifted author, SOMEDAY is full of inspiring stories, relevant quotes, meaningful diagrams and charts, and useful resources. As a bereavement trauma specialist, I hear too many people on their deathbed wishing for a "life do-over." This book motivates us to live like today is the only day we are guaranteed to have before it's too late and we run out of time, energy, or health to do what we truly love and hold close to our hearts. As a psychologist, I can think of so many people who can benefit from reading SOMEDAY - millennials not knowing their next step, those at mid life experiencing a crisis of identify or faith, those nearing retirement wondering what their next purpose will be.....and the list goes on: Women and caregivers looking out for everyone else while their own lives and goals are on the back burner and men and women feeling as if they are stuck in dead-end jobs. One of my favorite quotes in this book is Sam Horn's recommendation to "Do something every day that puts the light in your eyes." We don't always have to radically change our lives to find meaningful happiness yet most of us live on automatic pilot without truly exploring even small changes or life hacks that provide us with greater fulfillment and well-being. Kudos to Sam Horn for writing a book that challenges and nudges each of us to make sure that we don't leave this life full of unfulfilled dreams and deep regrets.

Most of us have a nagging suspicion that our lives should be different. Yet we don’t know where to begin making the change. In this book, legendary speaking coach Sam Horn provides us with ten simple strategies to get us started.
Sam is a master at putting powerful ideas into simple actionable packages, as her ten previous books attest. Here she first has us mine our history to understand what has made us happy in the past and what we imagine will make us happy in the future.
Her next step is to have us translate that into an activity that we will complete by a finite date. When confront yourself in this way, old thoughts and beliefs often pop up, and Sam’s third life hack is to learn how to let go of these.
From there she moves on to the short term. What can you do today that will move your life forward? It doesn’t have to be enormous, it can be small, but it must move you toward your bigger goal.
She then has you notice what is working well in your life, and affirm the people who are nurturing you on your journey.
She begins the book with her moving story of her father. His dream was to visit all the national parks in the U.S. when he retired. For decades, he worked six to seven days a week. Finally, after retirement, he began his long delayed dream.
A week into the trip, in a hotel bathroom, he had a stroke. He never got to visit the Grand Tetons, the Great Smoky Mountains, or Zion. He never got to do the very thing he had dreamed of his entire life. This motivated Sam to write this inspiring and touching book.
Consider using her hacks to create time for what truly matters to you now, not later. Life is much too precious to postpone. The ten small changes that Sam recommends in this book can make you happier, healthier, and more fulfilled. To actualize them, you don’t have to win the lottery, quit work, or leave your family. This book will motivate you to stop procrastinating and create a life that embodies your dreams.

I wish they had taught us in school how to pursue happiness in our life. As instructed in the book “Put a Date on the Calendar” and be specific in order to do anything you really want to do but keep postponing. You will find a lot of practical techniques on how to be the pilot in your life. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to live meaningfully and happily.
