- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2016I purchased to listen on audible and one day found that audible would no longer allow whisper sync access to it -- they said it wasn't available anymore. Strange, since I paid for it and used it for months. However, I love it so much that I ordered it on cd -- 9 months after getting the audible version. I decided to try this program after reading "Willpower Instinct" by the same author and really loving that. My son has OCD, and we are an anxious family in general, and "Neuroscience of Change" has transformed our lives. I love that the science behind successful change is detailed, along with studies to back up efficacy of the recommendations. It's also been helpful in dealing with chronic pain and cancer and the accompanying worries and fears we've had watching our adolescent son go through treatment for leukemia. Anyone experiencing any type of significant stress would benefit. I literally use something I learned from this every day, and in the past have had perfectionist tendencies. My only "complaint" would be that I would really love this in book form so that I could refer back to certain areas easily and/ or re-read things. It's a lot harder to find what you wanted to hear through "rewind," especially if you just wanted to repeat the last sentence. Thank you Dr. McGonigal for this incredible life changer.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 13, 2013I rarely rate ANYthing 5 stars, because in my view, there's almost always room for improvement. So, this reflects an exceptional product. I am listening over and over and over again to try to get it to sink in to my old brain and heart and soul. Worth every penny of the investment. If you have tried to change in the past, and who hasn't, this will help you understand why you likely failed to stick with the original goal, and how you can use the power of the brain's habit development mechanism to make change stick. It also helps lots with how to be compassionate with yourself when you fall short of expectations. There's so much more, but if I get going, I'll summarize every CD of the program. If you are even remotely thinking about this, do yourself a huge favor, and just BUY it...then use it.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 22, 2015Amazing AMAZING cd. I recommend this to anyone and everyone. I love how Kelly McGonigal incorporates science and neurology into the practice of mindfulness and making lasting changes. I am on my third round of listening to this cd. Even her voice is soothing and easy to listen to, which makes it a pleasant and stress free ride to work in the morning. I HIGHLY recommend this cd to anybody looking to commit to any kind of positive life change, whether small or large. I cannot speak highly enough of this cd!!!! If she has more CDs I will without a doubt be purchasing them.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2015I purchased this ciurse only after having read McGonigal's book "The Willpower Instinct". I was hungering for clues on how to make lasting changes in my own life, and decided that this person could be learned from.
I'm re-reading TWI and going through TNOC simultaneously, and in a relatively mindful way. The book and the CDs seem to mesh well at two chapters per CD. NOTE: They are not the same material at all, but there is a wonderful interleaving between the techniques described in TWI and the philosophy that permeates TNOC.
Thank you for reading, and thank you, Prof. McGonigal, for writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2018I scoffed at the idea of listening to this for a class. I was quite wrong. It's a pleasant surprise to put names to behaviors I had been somewhat aware of, and know about the neuro-chemical explanations driving them. It was a light bulb went off moment. Good stuff...fresh approach to change.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 12, 2015This book is more on how to learn meditation with some science facts mentioned. Not an audio to listen to in the car.

Excellent excellent. Combines ancient Eastern "wisdom traditions" with modern findings in psychology and neuroscience. Dr McGonigal's voice is perfect and engaging. Nothing to scare away religion-phobes or adherents to any particular religion. The material is irrefutable and fascinating and 100% unobjectionable to any kind of religious fundamentalist. This CD set can change your life for the better.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb
her writing and thinking is science based and innovative. the buddhist etc traditions and the meditation content here are fairly standard - but the science underlays are compelling.
her core perception; that hearing and observing pain/anxiety/stress/tension depowers them, and that we should avoid creating narrative around them, is very, very helpful
many thanks and every encouragement to the writer - I believe she deserves far more attention than she receives. Willpower is good, and hopefully her upcoming Stress book will be also.
Note; not sure why there is not a book version of this.
