- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2013I found the writing to be clear and lively. Most important, the facts are reliable and presented in a orderly manner.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2014Author should remove "Professor X". It hurts my eyes. Where else in a history book do you find that sort of thing?
Not terribly written though.

5.0 out of 5 stars A first-class text on the Industrial Revolution
This text is articulate & engaging and it will serve as an excellent introduction to the first Industrial Revolution. It charts every vital aspect of the analysis of the industrialisation process from Arthur Toynbee through to Nick Craft’s polemic and beyond. Ideal for undergraduates and the motivated lay-person and it is a joy to read. Links with contemporary economic development issues are established which broadens the review.
