I am an Irish artist and writer, living and working in Ireland. I live on the beach in Howth, just outside Dublin and paint, walk, draw and cycle every day.

You know at least one of my images, the iconic Che Poster image, yeah the one you see on t-shirts, walls, albums covers, that all came from my original image. Last year it was rated as one of the 10 most iconic images in the history of art.*

I have written and illustrated four books of my work, 'Celtia', 'The Book of Conquests', 'The Silver Arm' and 'Erinsaga', all of which tell of the ancient Irish myths and legends.

I started my Celtic art at a time when there was no known market for Celtic art and no one was doing it. My passion for Celtic art came from my own studies of ancient Irish history and mythology at a time when unfortunately so much of this proud history was being destroyed and forgotten. But with inspiration from ‘The Book Of Kells’, our Irish heritage and the great masters before me I developed my own distinct style, which in turn has become one of the foundations of the Celtic art movement.

My work has been shown all over the world for example the Tate Gallery London, The Whitney Museum, New York, The Kunsthalle, Vienna and many others.

*Emeritas Professor of History of Art, Martin Kemp of Oxford University, in his book: 'From 'Christ to Coke' has my Che Poster image at number 6. Mona Lisa is at number 5. Good company to keep for a working artist.

I first purchased a copy of Jim Fitzgerald's book way back in the '80s, while I was in high school. Lost at some point through the course of several moves, I'd despaired of finding a good copy of this older title -- until I stumbled on this gem!
The copy I received is nearly mint condition, with hardly a trace of the passage of four decades evident, and at a really good price!
Great book, great artwork -- and a great seller!

Finally understood about sequences of conquests & who was who. Favorite character of course is Nuada Silverlance of red gold hair. Am glad to have purchased this book with the incredible, intricate, vivid artwork. The tales of war were incredibly engaging with so much sorcery involved. This is a keepsake.

I have always wanted to own a copy of The Book of Conquests. Ever since I first read it in college "mumblesmrph" years ago. Jim Fitzpatrick is one of my idols and inspirations. It arrived from the shipper in short order, in nearly new condition, and I got it at an unbelievable price. I even got it on my birthday... Happy Birthday to me..."

Great book, beautiful illustrations. But there is one very suggestive illustration. I don't just mean anatomically correct, I mean suggestive. So, if you're buying this for your home school curriculum as part of your study of Irish mythology like I did, I would pick a different book for your elementary age kid...
We just taped those two pages together and still used the book, and the kids really liked it. But if I had known, I would've looked for another book.

Celtic Legend written as it should be; not as a scholarly assessment, but as an epic tale. The way Mr. Fitzpatrick has told this story as a narrative is excellent.

I previously had a copy of this amazing book so I decided to buy it again after several years. I remember being blown away by the vivid images and illustrations. However, when I received this copy I was very disappointed to see that the colours were really quite dull. This is clearly quite an old print and the quality has faded over the years. I wouldn't mind this if it had been stated in the description. The slight damage on the spine is not an issue as it doesn't affect the enjoyment of the book and it was advertised so I was expecting it. It's a shame after so many years.
