I was encouraged to follow this diet from my dietician because of my GI issues. This cookbook had some great ideas that helped a lot. It is very in depth and has a lot of flexibility. It offers substitutes and options depending on how strict your diet is. I feel a lot better eating dairy and gluten free while also following the Wahl's protocol. This book helped the cooking with my health challenges seem a more possible.

This cookbook is an outstanding resource for following any stage of the Wahls Protocol, and I can't recommend it highly enough!
When I read Dr. Wahls first book, The Wahls Protocol, some years ago I was daunted by the cornerstone requirements of eating 9 cups of vegetables and fruits in a specific variety, and eliminating dairy, gluten, and eggs, so I did not attempt it. Then more recently, re-reading to see if I might after all use the protocol to deal with severe and chronic pain, I again thought it would be too complex, time-consuming, and expensive. Having this cookbook resource, I now find that none of these concerns are the case!
Dr. Wahls is very sensitive to how much energy, time, and money people with MS and other disabilities have, and the day-to-day plan is easy to follow. It does involve possibly more grocery shopping that one is used to (likely shopping for very different things) and a few items, like coconut oil, are on the pricey side. But the trade-off on not buying ultra-processed packaged foods, dairy, and gluten products will help to balance that out.
The presentation of each of the 3 stages of the Wahls Protocol (the basic Wahls diet, Wahls Paleo, and Wahls PaleoPlus, which is essentially a keto diet) is succinct and easy to follow. You're also encouraged to ramp up slowly, no need to face eating all 9 cups of vegetables and fruits right off the bat (although she strongly recommends going cold turkey on dairy and gluten, which I did find to be a good strategy). Then, each section of suggested meals--smoothies, soups, skillet dinners, salads, etc.--begins with a "template" to follow using your own on-hand ingredients, followed by numerous recipes that she and her family enjoy. I have not seen one that I don't want to try out at some point.
Beyond that, one of the most beautiful cookbooks I have ever seen! Photography is fantastic, and layout is very easy to read. I purchased the paperback, but think I will use this often enough that I want to spring for the spiral-bound edition as well.

This book is great if you need it. Key being if you need it. We didnt and were doing a paleo stint. The truth is Wahls' recipes are decent, but very little comes out the way it's pictured or described. I think it's just a matter of the paleo ingredients, but there were times when we would follow the instructions to the letter, but our food would come out as some inedible slop (particularly all of the desserts, not a single one sets the way she claims they do) I think the idea behind the book is great. and I think if taste and texture dont matter to you, you will be fine. But this is not an everyday cookbook for a family just trying to live healthier. All of her smoothies and spritzer were great, but once again, not one thing we made looked as appetizing as an pictures in the book, despite tasting pretty good.

Arrived almost a week earlier than expected. Book (paperback-2017) was in perfect condition, just as described. Lots of resources in addition to recipes. Recommendations for kitchen tools, what to stock in your pantry, serving size, and household/personal care recipes. Just arrived today so I haven't proofed any of the recipes yet.

I don’t follow this to the t but I like some recipes and a hard copy of the book close by helps me put together a healthy meal. I am buying this the second time. I keep moving from one place to other and I left it in that place. So bought again.

As a stress eater, Keeping a book like this around motivates me to eat healthy. I get ideas by looking into these recipes. I’d say this book is incredible if you follow her diet… there’s recipes for breakfast, lunch, snacks, smoothies, teas, soups, dinners. I tweak the recipes to what I have at home that aligns with the diet and it tastes good. They are simple as well, at least most are.

My favorite is the raw cheese. I add to my pasta, salads, soup, eat with snacks. I refill my box every week.

Nut rounds, a blended mix of various fruits, nuts to snack on instead of store bought bars.

And chocolate pudding is also my favourite. But I haven’t added cream to it. She suggests eating a lot of coconut cream and berries.

I also suggest buying her other book called wahls protocol. I have read it a few times and changed my diet. Every time I need to get back on the bandwagon, I read. I bought her book in 2015 Jan or Feb, and watched her Ted talk as well.

I was surprised by how detailed the cook book is. You even have a chapter with cleaning and personal hygiene products. However, I only started with the protocol so I can't report the benefits yet. Majority of recipes are based on coconut fat. If you follow Swank diet for MS, this is a big no. I did reviewed all Whals's publications on that topic and I can't wrap my mind about what to do. Regardless, I already tried some juices (delicious), fudge and salat dressings. They are all amazing and nicely written. I reccomend the book. It is definitely worth the money.

An excellent companion book to the equally excellent Wahl's Protocol - books that are changing lives for the better. This is not only a good cook book for people with auto-immune disorders or other inflammatory diseases. This cook book is equally informative and captivating for those who are interested in never getting any of these awful, diet imposed illnesses. There are good recipes and very clear and easy instructions with background information. A a very good read and very good cookbook.

I already have her first book, which goes into the science. This book compliments beautifully with a short summary of the science, and lots of recipes with explanations of the approach, with clear differences for the three levels. As this is an all round healthy way to eat, we are generally adopting the Wahls protocol in our household, even those who do not have MS.
