A pitch-perfect exploration of modern married life, Jessica Saunders’s deliciously readable novel embraces the truth that some old flames can’t be snuffed out, no matter how many years go by.

Rachel Miller is a lawyer and mother of two who’s just as comfortable in a courtroom as she is on the sidelines of a soccer field. Sure, her marriage is on autopilot, her parents are overly involved, and the other suburban moms are just a little bit catty. But if you ask Rachel, life is good. That is until her world is upended when racy photos of her and her high school boyfriend, the famous actor Jack Bellow—along with his love letters to her—are published in a tabloid, unexpectedly thrusting Rachel into the spotlight. This newfound attention calls into question her marriage, her career, and her superstar ex. Betrayed by someone she trusted and reunited with the man she tried so hard to forget, Rachel must ask herself, “How did I get here? And what do I really want?”

Reminiscent of novels by Sophie Kinsella and Rebecca Serle, Love, Me is a sweet, honest foray into love, marriage, and the fantasy of a second-chance romance with the one that got away. Readers will find this lively debut romance book easy to devour and hard to put down.

Great Debut Novel
Debut novelist Jessica Saunders has written a novel that I had me hooked from the very beginning. Rachel is a busy lawyer who thinks that making partner and coping with an inattentive, unappreciative husband are her biggest problems. Then she is blindsided when a tabloid prints old love letters and risqué photos from her high school romance with the boy who became one of Hollywood's leading actors. As she deals with all the personal and professional fallout, she is also given a hance to reconnect with her old flame. The dual timeline moves back and forth from her youth in the 90's to present day. The three main characters are extremely well developed. Although this book has been labeled a second chance romance, it is so much more. Rachel has a chance at love, but she also has a second chance at rebuilding her own life. Although their is a fair amount of humor, this is no fluffily rom-com. I listened to the audiobook and the narrator, Emily Ellet is a fine voice actress who can differentiate the characters quite well. There is just enough alteration in her voice to portray the male characters believably. This audiobook will keep you entertained! If you get the print book, you will not want to put it down.

From its first page this book had me hooked on the emotional roller coaster of Rachel Miller's predicament. After she finds herself in the spotlight when love letters from her high school boyfriend (now movie star), Jack Bellow, are leaked to the press by her husband, Rachel reunites with him for the first time in decades. As a married mother of two and successful lawyer in a rocky marriage, she finds herself torn-- try and save her marriage or explore feelings for her childhood love? And it was a page turner right to the end and surely movie material!

As a lawyer and suburban Mom this book particularly called to me. Saunders shines in her first novel, with a gripping story line, a well-developed character arc and delightfully readably prose. We are sure to see her names on the shelves (and perhaps on the screen) for a long time to come....already eagerly awaiting her sophomore effort!

I didn’t expect to be so engaged. I read this book so quick. The story moved along at a great pace, and although it was a bit predictable at times I was interested in the characters dynamics and decisions. The description of mind set made sense and kept my interest for a good love story. Both males were engaging and fun so the main characters thought process seemed real, There was just enough reality and fantasy to make it engaging and not too far fetched . Even though past movie star boyfriends are far and few between. I would try another book by this author if she releases one.

Rachel Miller is a successful lawyer as well as a married mom of two young children. You’d never guess that in high school, she was the girlfriend of the now hugely famous movie star Jack Bellow. Her current life is stable (or to be honest, stale), but things seem to be humming along on autopilot. That is, until a tabloid posts some racy letters and pictures of Rachel and Jack from their teenage years, things that Rachel thought were private and safely hidden away. The public spectacle upends Rachel’s life and forces her to reexamine the choices she’s made.

This book sucked me in right away, the opening scene all too familiar for many a working mom: Rachel’s bustling morning of trying to get two small kids fed and ready while simultaneously getting herself into her staid corporate pantsuit and get them all out the door without any help from her clueless husband. The nonlinear timeline shows us Rachel’s life in the present while also taking us back to her teenage years and showing the trajectory of her relationship with her high school sweetheart. This book is partly women’s fiction, partly romance (including one short, somewhat spicy scene), and wholly relatable to anyone who ever wondered “what if?” Although I didn’t agree with some of the characters’ actions, overall I found this to be an enjoyable read with a fun touch of 90s nostalgia. This one should resonate with fans of Sophie Kinsella or readers who enjoyed Amazing Grace Adams by Fran Littlewood.

I switched back and forth between reading and listening to this book, and this is one of those times where the audiobook definitely elevated the story. Emily Ellet did a masterful job of narrating, differentiating the various characters’ voices well and in particular, instilling Rachel’s character with lots of personality and emotion.

Loved this book. Such a sweet and fun read. Perfectly entertaining and well developed characters. Every mom or someone who has had a first love can relate.

I absolutely loved this book and couldn't put it down. The characters are so relatable, especially the main character, Rachel - who is a busy working mom trying to manage it all. When Rachel's life is upended, she starts to question everything, and you feel like you're in the book with her trying to figure out what to do next. I have recommended this book to everyone -- it's a must read! And the perfect book to curl up on the couch with during a dreary January in the northeast...or anywhere!

Had the potential to be cute but it was just so scattered. I also didn’t love the infidelity and profanity. The ending is also very vague and leaves you feeling confused.

Loved all the different characters. But more than that I was invested in all the relationships. I want a part 2
