- Reviewed in the United States on October 2, 2011This is a simply beautiful book with its combination of classic poetry and wonderful pictures of an English countryside that I grew up in (despite being Welsh in fact!)some 70 years ago. My rural Wales of the 1940s was just like the pastoral scenes in this book so it was a wonderful nostalgia trip particularly seeing all the horse powered farming that farmers in our area still employed, mainly due to the fuel shortages of those war years I think!
