Beware the Fisherman.
Andi Wyndham has communicated with spirits since she was a kid. When a bone pendant carved into the likeness of a girl’s face calls to her at a gem show in Pennsylvania, she can’t resist buying it and a sister piece. When she discovers the girls are missing runaways and the pendants are made of human bone, Andi is drawn into a mystery that will force her to confront her gifts, her guilt, and the ghosts haunting her.
Pendant Girls Mariah and Bennie urge Andi to find a man they call "Fisherman,” a master of disguise. Teaming up with a handsome private eye and a South Carolina sheriff, Andi must find the girls’ bodies and put their souls to rest, before the Fisherman casts his deadly net to trap Andi.

“Wow! Terry S. Friedman’s page-turner debut kept me up late into the night and continues to haunt me long after finishing this ghostly tale of murdered girls who speak from the grave. Beautifully written, Friedman’s lyrical style will lure you in and scare you senseless.” ―Annette Dashofy, USA Today bestselling author of the Zoe Chambers Mysteries

Now to the story... I loved this story, pretty original. All the characters were like able obviously except for the bad person. My only slight issue with the story is the author doesn't describe the atmosphere/surrounding/setting very well. I am a person that tried to visualize what I am reading and I had a hard time doing that with this book. But what I do like is because of this the author concentrated on the characters more than anything and I absolutely loved that.
I absolutely would recommend!!! But if you get the hard cover be prepared for a heavy kind of hard to hold book, unless you don't mind breaking the spine and I absolutely refuse to do that.
On another note, I am now interested in planting a ginko tree in my yard

The characters draw you into the story from page one. They continue to engage you until the last page of the book. The relationship between Andi, the Girls, and the Shadow children lends an erie yet heartwarming edge to the story. They make you feel that Andi's gift is not so extraordinary and immensely useful.
A lot is going on in this book. The story walks between two worlds, with the common denominator being Andi. The storyline is robust, fluid, compelling, and moves faster than it seems. Some elicit a visceral response, be it cheering, tears, laughing, laughing through tears, or looking for the key to your gun's lock box (because a particular character in the book really needed to die).
With suspenseful drama, paranormal action, a who-done-it mystery, a little romance, a little humor, and much tragedy, Bone Pendant Girls is a very entertaining and compelling page-turner that I thoroughly enjoyed. I did not want to put it down. I hope the author turns this into a series. Reading more crime-solving adventures from Andi, Eli, and gun-toting Fiona would be fun in more stories.
from your newest fan from Cincinnati
Andi has struggled throughout her lifetime to deal with the Otherworld and the beings that inhabit it. Since life has not always treated Andi kindly, she has hardened her heart to the living, except for her best friend Fiona. Fiona is the perfect foil for Andi and understands her quirks and ability to talk to the deceased. When Andi discovers two bone pendants at a market that portray the faces of two young murder victims, she begins to her their voices and stories. Fiona and a cast of intriguing characters help Fiona discover what happened to the Bone Pendant Girls, Bennie and Mariah.
Throughout her description of Andi, Friedman takes time to show, and not tell, the reader the potential ups and downs of being able to communicate with the dead. There are moments of pure joy of receiving a message to be able to help solve a mystery; however, there are also moments of pure grief. Friedman never takes for granted the reader or their possible knowledge, or lack thereof, of the paranormal and how it functions in the richly defined world she has created for her characters.
I received an ARC for review. This review is honest and voluntary.
This book was very suspenseful! I loved the setting and original story. It is well written! This is my first time reading this author but definitely not my last! I loved the PI and Andi’s relationship and how it slowly builds. I highly recommend this book and this author!
